When you are not detailing....

You folks wear me out. Between my detailing business, my church activities, a 2 and 4 year old, and my beautiful wife, there isn't much time for hobbies now days.

Used to be big into fitness and firearms, hopefully as the tots get older I can get back into that.

I swim 3-4x a week for about an 30-45 minutes and try to do at least a mile with an assortment of different strokes (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and drills) and I have to say michael phelps has definitely help push me back into the water. I also am slowly getting back into skateboarding (more longboarding since I like to cruise and can't do all the technical tricks these whippersnappers are doing today) since it's been over 10+ years (the feeling of just cruising is incredible and hard to describe as there is nothing like it). this guy just blows me away (video below, check it out) as he's going probably 60+ miles per hour and makes it look easy...

Holy Moly!! Swimming IMO is the best cardio exercise PERIOD. Jogging would be 2nd. You must be in awesome shape!!

Way cool!

Playing screaming Strats and Les Pauls in my cover band.

We play weddings and private parties but I'm really a hard rock guy. Especially '80's stuff.

But we play what they want to hear.

Also, I like going to the gym 4 or 5 days a week. These 44 year old shoulders are starting to disagree with that, though.

hey Riff, I like playing some too, but mostly country and jazz

Spare time = riding the Road Glide. Only a few things I would rather be doing than that.

I'm in the same boat. Lol. I also have a 2 year old son and 4 year old daughter. Taking care of the FAM and putting in the work hours takes away from "hobby" time. Although I must say, when I tell the wife I have a detail job planned she's very much supportive. I also enjoy motorcycle riding and playing music, when those options are available of course...

One of my first customers of mine said to me so what got you into detailing? I said honestly I don't know. Ha. I always maintained my vehicles then one day someone said, hey could you look at my vehicle, I'd like to get these scratches (swirl marks) out... Sure I can take care of that for you. Next thing you know I'm getting phone calls. Blessing in disguise I guess.

Lets see.
Father, RC Cars, RC Quadcopters, Mechanic/Automotive electronics, P90X program, General handyman (for friends and family when they need things done around the house), lawn mower. Some are exciting others not so much.

BOB: Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much information.

Continuing education.

One of the beauties of being retired...lotza time to do whatever. I've been retired for ten years (eek!) and have never been bored yet.

I'm either working, cooking something new, or building one of these for guys that compete all over the country / world with 'em.

Good grief, that sucker is HUGE!

To think folks are concerned about the hobby helos "watching" them. I'd be worried that AC would be bombing...LOL.

Great work!

That's awesome!

I started flying a trainer with a 3 foot wingspan a few years ago.

That balsa wood was just too fragile for me. I wanted to fly them not fix them. I ended up selling everything to a friend.

I'm in the 2 and 4 yr old boat too. Extra time is spent reading here and trying to clean up after them.

Them trying to help me on a job.

Recreational guitar playing and bike riding. Now that i'm retired i would like to get current again with my Private Pilot - SEL license.

taking care of my boys and lifting weights out :) (on a break for a while now)

I used to collect shoes of all kinds including Air Jordans & used to like going to the drag strip.

Father of seven year old twin daughters takes most of my spare time. When I'm not in the garage prettyin' up the household rides I can be found at a local pond, stream or river fishing for largemouth or smallmouth bass. I have more rods, reels and tackle than most sporting goods stores...seriously. It's as bad of an addiction as detailing and every bit as expensive.

Thanks, Riff!

The final product is more expensive than some small cars - about 400 hours or so of labor involved, due to my perfectionistic tendencies. Fortunately, most of these guys are sponsored so the $$ is usually not a big issue. Regardless, the hourly rate sucks. I do it because I love it, not for the money. Kinda like detailing! :xyxthumbs:

This but not as fast as I use to be

Holy $h1t

I'm jealous Monica! I'm a big runner myself, but since my back fusion it's been a struggle to get back into it. Hopefully in the near future I can resume my passion for it. Good luck with your race:)

I feel for you man... Good luck and feel better!

I run a daycare for two small children.

That's a workout in itself....

Full time I work for The Scripps Research Institute. Run a small detailing business on the side.
Plus am a father of 2 boys(1,3)

That takes up 95% of my time. But I try to make it to the Autogeek cars and coffee meet every month.
Also work on my GTO. Hopefully will back drag racing again soon. Been out of the game since I sold my Camaro.

Used to love the drag strip with my ex. Used to love blowing gee doors off people with my ex's 140k daily driver/beater running 10.80s all day :dblthumb2:

Kids are a workout!

Everyone else.... I love the responses! Keep'em coming!

I work saturdays as well, and the weekend is for my kids some duties at home, helping my wife with laundry/cleaning and fixing things. But, when the night is clear, and the sky is dark, I grab one of my few telescopes and gaze at the stars. I like my Russian babe, an Intes Maksutov Cassegrain telescope, with a Denkmeier binoviewer.

I use to jog but it's too hard on the joints/feet/heels/ankles for me. swimming is like cardio and light weight resistance all in one and is very underestimated IMO. to control your breathing while efficiently using your arm/legs/hips and pretty much almost most all your body is not very easy especially when trying to do it correctly. I see a lot of elderly walking & jumping up & down (they also the pool dumbbells and noodles) in the pool which is great low to no impact exercise and keeps the circulation going throughout the body which is important as we age...
