Where did my post go?

AutogeekOnline.net is a vendor-sponsored forum. The goal is to provide a place to share information about the product lines we carry. This is not a Detail City or an Autopia-like community. We do appreciate what these forums do, which is why we do sponsor and participate on them, but our goal here at AutogeekOnline is not the same. As stated in our forum rules, discussion should be limited to products we carry.

It has come to our attention that some of our members have agendas to sell and promote products behind the scenes using the private message system. To maintain the integrity of AutogeekOnline, please report offenses to our moderators: Jason, Meghan, and Scott (Killrwheels). This is an increasing problem in not just this forum but many others.

We do not tolerate spam or commercial solicitation. This includes links to other vendors' sites, discussions about other vendors’ products, and photos of other vendors’ products. AutogeekOnline is not a forum for commercial vendors or their affiliates to sell their products. Please keep discussions, reviews, and links limited to Autogeek and our manufacturers.

The AutogeekOnline forums are growing quickly and, as a result, there will be more issues such as this that we have to resolve. We will work quickly to resolve them in ways that are fair to our members, without jeopardizing the goal of the forum – to provide a respectful, friendly environment in which to discuss car care. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or [email protected].

As a vendor-sponsored forum, the AutogeekOnline format allows for a more specific product dialog and, with the help of our suppliers, we are able to provide private sales, promotional giveaways, birthday discounts and much more. We want to continue to provide these benefits to our members, as well as a fun, informative environment for everyone to enjoy.

So basically a private forum for AG products and customers only.

What about Justin selling his guns. This was done wide open, not even in PM's. You guys knew about it, but nothing was done. Certain members shouldnt get special privileges.

And Im still wondering what competitor links Ive had in my posts?

I def understand why they dont allow links in the posts here, i run my own shops, and would have been pretty pi$$ed if someone walked around in my store with flyers for a competitors business, imo thats just bad manners and not fair play.

BUT letting someone discuss a product IN my store (or here at AGol feks) would not be any problem as far as i see it. I would then get a fair chance to let them know why buy at MY store/stuff instead of their store/stuff, and if i then "loose" that discussion/sale.....well i just got to pull my $hitt together and get better, get that product in my line up or improve my product to be a better choice....be so good at what i do that there aint NO OPTION buying elsewere.

Which is good, AG's problem is they get people with 1 post that their 1st thread is "how is this stuff?" and post link and after link to outside companies. No problem talking about it, but I understand why they do not want the links, I like the forum as is and don't want to see it become a conglomorate like Autopia which is massive. No trouble talking about other products, even Scott and others have talked about stuff like the Euro metal polishes before as they are excellent products. I think they just don't want to see thread after thread of Zanio this and that etc (not meaning anything towards Zanio just giving an example).

I dont want to see any threads about Zaino either haha.

The thread has not been deleted is in queue until we have a chance to review it this afternoon.

Did I mention it's about control?

Sometimes it is better to allow the kiddies a chance to hurt themselves so that they will listen to what you are saying. Or is what we are saying a lie? ah the debate continues!

Hey I got a great idea....why not have someone besides Killr and a select group of people do product evaluations? Yes I know they are experienced, but maybe that in itself is a problem. Their experience allows them to modify the use of a product so that they get the results they preconcieved. Time for some backyard detailers to let people know what really is good and just so-so.

I will go back to my cave now~!

Mehh, the forum belongs to them to do with what they please....

Only thing I can say is when establishing rules, standardization of who these rules apply to is key.

Like in my business, majority Commercial Financing. Somebody annoys me and complains etc, I'll send them on their merry way as I don't have time to deal with the bs, tell them its my rules or no go...they don't like, they can go somewhere else lol :D

That wasn't meant towards anybody on here either, just stating the comparison to my biz lol

Back Yard / Drive Way Detail Testers Unite!

I will add that my earlier statment that this is AG's board to do with as they please is not an attempt to discount others frustrations that have been voiced... Just my opinion.

As long as I can get quality products at a reasonanle price with adequate customer service - they are A+ in my book. Everything else is a bonus!

I really don't see the problem, you all agreed to the rules when you registered here. It is not up to use to decied which rules we think are right and wrong. Just like driving. If you are speeding and get caught, you don't tell the cop that you weren't breaking the law, you were only showing the car's potential. You also can't argue and say that other people do it, so why can't you (ie: the foam cannon). It is AG's rules, and they can enforce them how they please. I really don't see the harm in talking about competitor's products, but it isn't my place to argue that point. If you don't like AG's rules, move on. It's that simple...

Oh, and I have a backyard, and will test.:D

I think part of the issue is that not all members are treated equally. Some are allowed to freely post whatever they want. Tons of people have made posts in the past showing off their newly purchased goodies and it was never an issue. Perhaps someone had an issue with CG, who knows.

But in the end, if you're going to have rules like that, make it so that it applies to everyone equally. Don't let one person post about it, then ban another member for doing the same. That's just bad business and it creates a real negative vibe here.

Funny, on another board I belong to thats what the Mods always use to say when someone had an issue. Well, that board has been on a downward spiral for awhile. They had to bump some Mods and reorganize everything. In fact, a lot of members, including their most knowledgeable ones left and created their own forum. So trust me, thats NOT how things should be run. AG's forum members are VERY valuable, they dont want to lose them.

The members should run the board, NOT the Mods. And I think we have a mature enough group here where we can do that. AG has stated the rules very clearly. Now we just need to follow them, simple as that. We should be allowed to discuss the rules and come to an agreement peacefully. The answer from the Mods SHOULD NEVER be "if you dont like it, then leave."

And I can tell you right now, If the Mods even think of saying crap like that, then I will leave. But they arent like that, so I dont see it happening.

I'm not arguing the point that the rules should be enforced fairly. If the issue is not enough mods to cover everything, well then it is time to get some more mods. The rules say no links or pictures or discussion, if that is done, ya you can be pissed, but really, what recourse is there? On other forums I am on, if we post not sponser links, they are edited, the content is not deleted, that could be a soultion here, I don't see the issue with discusion (especially if it is a comparo). But the bashing of AG, the fourm, and the mods isn't really needed. They are here to enforce the rules (same thing with people complaining about cops when they get tickets, they are just enforcing the law). I think the rules should be enforced equally too, that may be something that needs to be looked at. Maybe a rule change to at least allow talk of other products is needed, but in the end, it is up to them to allow what they want.

No one is forcing you to stay here, and I really don't think that threat is going to change the rules or anything (not that you meant it). You contribute a lot to the forum, but getting so worked up over an issue like this is pretty lame. I say let it go and play by the rules. Makes things a lot easier.

I appreciate your understanding... and we love Back Yard detailers! And drive way testers! I think we have been very good to our forum members, as they have been to us. We all have a great time on this forum discussing our products and helping out each other, thats what I like and would like to see. As for my volunteer testers, all I every ask is an honest opinion and a few pics to show to the other members. This does involve time and I do not think everyone realizes how much, if anyone is up to the challenge you just PM me and I will keep you in mind for the next product. All I ask is that we do get the review for the members posted in a timely fashion and a couple of pics with the post. This is a vendor forum, not an open forum, all forums have different reason for their existence, ours is to help you and educate on the many different lines we carry.
I appreciate all of those who take the time to share with the members, remember that is why we are here!;)

Well that about says it all to me, "this is a vendor forum, not an open forum" glad you could clear that up for me Meghan as I just realized I should stop posting all the things I've been purchasing.

Quick question then, is it okay to post the vehicles I detail and list of products I use even if they are not from AG? Please don't take my post the wrong way I just want to make sure that I'm not braking any rules and play fair :D
