Which electric pressure washer? There should be a sticky

The 390ss looked promising but I hate changing tips. How flexible is the hose on the 390ss?

Also, other than the 100psi difference what's the big difference between the 383ss and 390ss? It's the same gpm rating so I'm not sure what else.

After reading reviews for days upon days and seeing all the bad reviews on every electric power washer I finally decided last night at 2 am to go with a Sears gas powered pressure washer. I just don't want to deal with plastic parts breaking and pump malfunctions, proprietary fittings and so on. Electric seemed the way to go and with the multitude of choices it seems someone could build one to last. I guess that is why AG does not sell them.

The only really "great" electric is Kranzie which is sold at another detail supply site. Very expensive though.

to be honest, after looking at the reviews of the 3000x over the course of the last few months, it's hard to agree with your assessment. i know how tough it can be on amazon to get a consistently high rating and that thing has a REALLY high rating with a lot of total reviews.

I find most reviews are price/performance. If the spx3000 was $300 I wonder if the reviews would change. But for $150-$200 range it's awesome.

I did like the review of the guy that actually tested the 1.76 gpm and 2000psi claim and showed both were lies.

Builthatch, I searched every site until my eyes bled and every time I was ready to pull the trigger and buy an electric PW I found a preponderance of bad reviews for the PW. Even on the manufacturers own website. I got down to just googling the PW name and reading everything. I never found a site where many reviewers said they got more than two seasons out of their PW. Way different for gas PW owners, most were happy. I paid around $100 more and it may be a PITA to use gas, but hopefully I can get twice as many years out of it if I take good care of it. I really wanted someone to say xxxxx is an awesome PW I use it all the time buy it, but it didn't happen where I could plunk down the cash. I think I did my due diligence.

+1

Never had an electric pressure washer that was worth it. They always leak, break, get discontinued so you can't find parts. I grabbed a honda gas unit and it has been fantastic.

I have the ARblue383. Had it for 1 year and the plastic piece(that comes with unit)that goes to the garden hose broke at the threads. I asked if they had metal and they said yes you have to order it on their site. I even brought it in for the winter. I called and they gave me a new one and said they would do that anytime it breaks which is cool customer service. They knew I sounded frustrated. But, it should have been metal to start with. You figure , why not spend the extra $ manufacturing it better the first time. Now it is costing them money to send me the parts. It was a huge inconvenience breaking on me on my day off while washing car. Now i have to wait for shipment. This is the clear piece that broke

Every electric I've looked at has a plastic coupler from the unit to garden hose.
My guess was it was always manufactured that way to be a sacrificial part, so when the PW tumpts over, the fitting takes the blow instead of snapping off the metal neck, as those necks are almost always cast right into the pump housing. Break that, and the whole unit is trash.

I went thru a K5.740 myself. Broke about 3 weeks past the one year warranty.

The Sun Joe unit has been great so far, and if you catch it on sale, you can darn near buy 2 of them for the price of one Karcher K5.740 and the bayonet adapter to make it work with a foam cannon.

With my luck with the K5.740's longevity, I'd likely buy a Sun Joe every year over ever buying Karcher again.

I'll add this too, having owned a K5.740 and a SPX3000, the Sun Joe unit has more power.

The spinny high pressure dirt buster wand on the Karcher might be stronger than the Sun Joe, but I wouldn't use that attachment on a car, ever.

Don't take this the wrong way, but what does a person expect for $155.42? That is what is sells for currently on Amazon.

Just bought a sun joe spx3000 from Walmart with a 3 year extended warranty for $18 bucks. So 5 years of protection. Free shipping.

Like all of you, I have done a tremendous amount of research and settled on this one. Great reviews for the sun Joe of the machines in the mid-priced segment, and couldn't get over the AR proprietary fittings issue that ruled out the AR383. I thought about the lower priced ryobi and the karcher at $300+, and think this is just right for my detailing needs.

Got the Simpson 50' hose and brass connectors so I think I will be set up!!
Thanks to all for the assistance and info.

David

I own both of these and just did a pressure test and its not the case at all. You might have a faulty karcher unit.

They put out the same pressure depending on the wand used....basically both pumps are putting out enough pressure but it will vary on the lance you use. I swapped lances back and forth and the results per lance were equal.

Someone else on the forum also did that test and got 1200 psi on his spx3000 while i got 1150 or so.

Did you guys ever think of using a "quick connect/disconnect" coupler?
I did and it makes it much easier and most likely that piece would never break ..

Of course I have, you don't really have a choice. I only posted my hypothesis for why they may include a plastic coupler. It could just as easily be that the manufacturers are cheapskates. By using metal though, you have an increased risk of snapping off the inlet port coupler should you knock over the PW. Some units are more to heavy than others, and depending on the thickness of the cast aluminum, the brass fittings might be most robust than the neck.

After reading my post over in your quote, I realize it may look as though my Karcher broke at the hose port. It did not. The pump simply refused to turn on one day, when I pulled it out of the garage.

BTW, one of the worst things you could ever do to a PW is starve it for water. Anyone reading this for future posterity should be sure to not use quick connects with inline water governors or check valves.

The SunJoe spx3000 is on sale again at Home Depot for $159.20 through 5/24/2015. I just ordered mine.

Got this from Home Depot I have a gas unit but I wanted something electric and not to expense. At $109 I hope it will fill the bill, it is rated at 1600 psi and 1.2 gpm I'm sure those numbers are inflated. It's small and easy to move as far as power it's ok only problem is having a real pressure washer, it is fairly quiet which is one of the reasons I wanted it. I was more surprised in how well the foam cannon worked, gas unit is still the way to go for that but then again I'm not comparing apples to apples. What I do have to use to is the fact it sounds like it's seizing when it kicks in, again it's electric. One draw back is the hose length and a pretty cheap gun, but it really is a cheaper unit but if it holds up for a few years I think it will work for the money and hopefully the neighbors will like the quiet operations early in the mornings.

Nice purchase!!
One question ..is the high pressure hose "flexible"?
The hose on my Campbell Haulsweld is so stiff , it annoys the hell out of me when its time to wind it up for storage. The Ryobi's looks very soft and flexible..is it?

thxs

I dont think any hose is flexible with these PW. The Sunjoe hose is very nice but only 20ft.
