Which MF towels should I buy?

I like the Gold Plush Jr's. They're good at everything.

I do too. Great towel and they last longer than similar towels in other brands.

when you catch them on sale and buy a decent quality they're very price competitive too.

Thanks for the reply!

I wasn't too sure with the GSM counts on using them for waterless washes and the like.

I hear you with the higher GSM, I have a some 800's and 920's, and they feel great, but are cumbersome. They are great for taking polish/wax off, and buffing. But yes, they are a handful, LOL!

I will revise my shopping and take a look at the Creature. Thanks again!

They just came out with an Eagle 350, and I think that could be something to look into if you’re looking for towels exclusively for a waterless wash.

But I have no issues doing waterless/rinseless with the creature towels, the spectrums, or even my Costco towels.

In some of the rag company YouTube videos, most recently the collaborative ones with OG, they’ll touch on coming out with higher GSM towels to reduce pressure points when wiping, so you’re less likely to mar particularly delicate surfaces.

I’ve personally never noticed marring with any towel I’ve ever used, but I also don’t have ridiculously soft paint. So for me, higher gsm towels tend to fold over on themselves and be annoying. Not to mention they take up a lot more space in storage.

I’d say If your funds allow for you to try some stuff, order 2-3 of each towel you’re interested in just to see how you like them. I think it’d feel better in the long run rather than ordering a dozen or so towels you don’t like to use.

The same towels on my list could be in a totally different order for you, so it’s best to try them out imo.

Thanks guys!

I've also use the Costco MF towels, and use those primarily for detail spraying. I just have to be careful with them, as I've found they get little things caught in the fibers from time to time. And I am low on that current supply of them as I move them down my list of importance to wheel cleaning, and finally the trash.

Thought this time around I'd go for something a little nicer, and more recommended.

As for my waterless washes, I have been using Adam's Polishes blue waffle weave towels for that. It works, but I'm not overly happy with the streaking it leaves, I'm guessing because of the waffle pattern on them.

This is another reason I was kinda looking for an all-in-one for these 2 tasks. I'm always up to try out new things, so I may end up with a couple of different types towels or so.

I read through this thread earlier today, and literally LOL at some of the collections of MF some of you guys have. My collection is very small in comparison. It does however, make me feel more at home here, in knowing I'm not the only one that trys out different things!

I'm really loving my Griot's PFM Terry Weaves.

Some of the best towels I have tried.

Do you use that for drying, as the title on Amazon indicates it's for? Curious how it works for you if that what you use it for, I need to upgrade my drying towels as well.

Edit:

I just noticed they have more than one type, so ignore my question LOL!

I have the PFM drying towel. I don't have enough words to tell you how great that thing is.

But, I also have the smaller all-purpose ones. The Griot's item number is 55586.

Cool thanks!

I was looking at the smaller one, that could work well for the waterless wash. I might try the larger one also when I need to break out everything for a full wash.

The PFM drying towel comes in two sizes: large and small. The small ones would be absolutely perfect for rinseless washes. They are soft and absorbent, and their small size makes them easy to handle. Which is especially important for drying a panel at a time when doing a rinseless wash.

I don't do many rinseless washes, but I have both sizes of PFM for when I do regular bucket washes. They're the best drying towels I've tried by far.

Here's a recent discussion on them:

Drying towels: is the PFM by Griot's still the best?

Whenever you are on the Griot's website, do yourself a favor and request their free catalog.

Your wallet might be a lot lighter after you receive it, though..........:props:

Thanks, I was going to ask where it would be the best price at and forgot.

Between GG, TRC, and some other things I need to get here shortly, my wife is probably going to kill me LOL!

This forum is awesome, and has some great information, my detailing addiction is going to a whole new level!

Then our voodoo is working on you....... Muahahahaha!! Lol

Hey, as far as the wife goes I'll share what my wife says: "At least you are home enjoying yourself, getting exercise and keeping our investments (vehicles) looking great.

Some guys just sit in a bar room. I'll take your hobby over that any day".

LOL!

She doesn't understand (probably doesn't care haha) the whole process, but does enjoy driving around in a "clean vehicle" according to her. I must be doing something right however, because her coworkers have commented on how good they look.
