I'm looking to buy my first buffer that didn't come from Auto Zone, and I'm looking at either the Porter Cable, or the Meguiar's. Obviously the PC is the most popular, but has anyone had experience with both?

No experience with Meguiar's but the PC is nice, however for a similar amount of money I would go with the Griots. It has more power and a lifetime warranty. You will have "naysayers" and "fanboys" of each type but if you create a pro's and con's list and try to take bias out of the equation, the Griots seems to be the best out of the 3. I am sure others will follow with their comments but just search around the forum here. There are lots of similar questions asked and many people giving feedback about them all. All of them have problems (they are mechanical, what mechanical does not have "bugs"), they all have their selling points. Read as much as you can and once you make the purchase, remember why you bought it and not any sort of negativity anyone else gives you because you did not buy what they have.

I personally have the PC7424XP and love it. It does what I need it to do. The Griots does have more power. But I bought the PC because of its reputation. Haven't heard of many breaking. Either way, they all do the same job. Can't go wrong with any of them.

I just bought the Griots because it had a lifetime warranty and many people like it.

Out of the two you mentioned I'd get the Meguiars. The cruise control feature is nice.

If it was between all of them though... I'd get the Griots.

I have the PC and the Griots. I would go with the Griots due to what Tundra mentioned...the power, and lifetime warranty.

I've been seeing a lot of people going with the Griot's. The PC is great-I have one, but it left me wanting more power to get the job done. If you can hold off and stash some dough I'd recommend getting the Flex 3401. It's a hybrid DA with forced rotation, so while it's safe it still has the power. If I had to go back and do it again I'd get the Flex.

Another Griot's vote. I have a PC XP and really only use it for applying wax or will dedicate it to machine sanding.

I hadn't really considered the Griots buffer, but that lifetime warranty kinda makes a difference!

The Griots package with the 3 inch included is kinda making my mind up on this one!

You really can't go wrong with that. I have both the Griots polishers. They work awesome, and I'm glad I bought them both.

Those two were my upgrade from the PC. Glad I did it.

That 3" will come in handy more than you can even imagine. It's great for headlight restores too. Also very useful if you need to spot sand an area. Those 3000 discs do amazing things. :dblthumb2:

+1 for griots. After much reading, i pulled the trigger on the gg! Should get my package tomorrow!

Search got the Griot's club package or something like that. It's both polishers, pads, cleaners and towels for $279.99. I haven't placed the order yet, but I'm gonna!

Plain and simple...Griots has more correction "power"...but the PC has the dependability factor. Both will do the job nicely. My two cents..if you NEED it everyday to work..PC...if for your own personal use and you can deal with "down time" in case you have to use the lifetime warranty..Griots.

I'm one of the few I guess, my PC XP made it to 4 cars before breaking and being replaced. I did one more full correction with the new PC XP before finally replacing it with the Griot's unit. I've gone through 15 corrections and a handful of cleaner wax applications with the Griot's unit and no problems yet thankfully. I am only a part-timer so my machines aren't used day in and day out.

HAve had the GG for a year with no problems. just got the flex, WOW. thats all I can say. Smooth as silk is the flex. GG is very good though
