Which Sealant and Wax for Met. Silver?

Not sure I'd put a hybrid sealant(845) on top of another brand pure sealant(powerlock). You can do 2 coats of the same product, or use a sealant, then top with a carnauba wax. JMO.

I agree.

Or, you could go the route that I would really recommend if you are adamant about putting a carnauba on top of a sealant: use Optimum Car Wax! It is an easy to use spray, and it can be used on pretty much anything without bonding issues.

I've never used OCW, but heard it looks great on silver.

Rob, how long do you have to wait between coats of AJ?

4* UPP x 2 topped w/Maxwax, if happen to have Megs #16 that would be even better. UPP/16 is a killer combo on white/sliver.

OCW really does seem to be one of those products that works/looks great on any kind/color of paint!

As for AJ, I have always waited 24 hours between coats, but I'm not sure what their recommendation is.

So will these suggestions also work with a Tahoe that is Bermuda Blue?

another option that might fit both, the forum favorite package?

thanks for your help all!!

I use DP Policoat and Poorboys Nattys paste wax on my Sheer Silver Silverado and Silver Birch Tahoe. I think it comes out great.

I've been using KAIO and KSG topped with either Collinite 915 or 1Z Glanz Wax on my wife's Silver Metallic Cadillac and to my eye they both look great on the silver.

UPP will work great on all colors that I have seen it on. When the rain stops here our dark blue fusion will be wearing it but topped with Maxwax (paint has flakes and maxwax really pulls them out). To help you with all the acronyms we use, here is a list with some of the most common ones used on all detailing forums http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...sity/2700-new-product-abbreviation-chart.html It's just faster to break down the product names/tools rather then typing them out multiple times in a paragraph. Also if you wanted to use just 1 product and not spend the $$ on 2 then Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection (UPP) or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant (WG DGS) both look great by them selves. The only real deference imo is UPP can be complimented by a wax whilst WG DGS looks best on it's own.

Sealant- Menzerna Power Lock
Wax - Collinite 845

I have used Ultima Paint Guard Plus on silver blue and light green. It looked, and looks great on both. I imagine it would look equally good on silver. The single biggest reason to go with UPGP is the ease of use--just wipe on and walk away; it doesn't need to be buffed off.

Everyone, of course, have their favorite waxes, sealants, and combos; but quite honestly, in most cases, if you have done the proper prep, I doubt you will see significant differences. All the protectants mentioned in this thread are fine products. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Here in Virginia, winter is right around the corner. I will be trying Finish Kare 1000p on our silver blue CR-V. It will take a lot more work to apply, but I'm hoping that it will provide sufficient protection to get me through 5+ months. I'm sure it will look terrific on the vehicle.

Now if I am claying first, any of these combos will still work?

Also, it is a new 2010 Chevy Malibu.

thanks again all.

I have been playing with AIO and AW on my Gold Mist Malibu which is pretty reflective, but I think I'm going to return to a glaze + Meg's #26 because I favor "the wet look" on neutral colors.

I think Meg's #26 is one of the most under rated products out there.

I ended up going with the Power lock and collinte 845 so hopefully i will be posting good results next week?

thanks all.

I am a fan of Poorboy's Ex sealant topped with Natty's blue wax. I think its the best bang for your buck.

I'm less experienced than most but my silver/gray metallic VW gets KAIO, 3 coats KSG, and then WGDGPS. It looks like glass when viewed at an angle and I get constant complements.
