I too am a #3.I enjoyed detailing when I was thirteen.Muscle cars were the rage back then.A guy at the corner of the street had a brand new 1966 chevy supersport.396 C.I. hurst 4 on the floor.I was good friends with his younger brother.I remember going down and washing and waxing the car almost daily during summer break for FREE.Didn't mind a bit.Was rewarded with only one ride.It was O.K.,he didn't know what he had anyway.:p Theres just something rewarding and relaxing about detailing a car. After all, don't they run soooooooo much better when their clean and shiny;) Right now I have a 2007 chevy humongo silverado and a 2003 Honda accord to keep me busy. The weathers been relatively mild up north here so both have that SHOWROOM SHINE.:awesome: Its a magnificent obsession!!

#1 here. I am a full time mobile detailer.
Wife goes to college. I will be starting in January myself. Taking classes so I can buid on my business and add new services...

Consider yourself lucky that you don't have to drive so much. I drive 80 miles round-trip each day and boy does the front end get dinged. I'm finally getting a clear car bra on Friday.

Howard, I know where you coming from with the long commutes to work. I was not always so lucky as to be able to work out of my house. Before moving to Florida I worked downtown Detroit and I had a similar round trip commute as you at about 74 miles each day. Some days I worked out of Ann Arbor, MI which was a even longer commute for me. It was really bad in the winter time.

dod software?

Hi Itoman, I'm not sure what your dod software question is but I like you red corvette. I have been considering getting a new Z06 for my next toy and that is diffenately the color I would get. I use to have a two tone burgundy 81 vette. The lighter burgundy on top was just a little darker then the color of yours. It was a beautiful car.

I'm #3 and new to it at that. I was selling a car a couple of months ago and worked on it for a couple of weekends getting it ready. It looked so good after I got done I had a hard time parting with it.

sounds very cool. thank you for the compliment!!!
oh, dod is department of defense - my husband used to do that type of coding.:)

I guess I am #3. I'm order my PC as soon as I see a nice special I like from AG.

Come spring, I'm starting a mobile detailing business on the side. Nothing to hardcore since I won't have a trailer or truck. But still, everything I need.

Thats funny I have a friend who moved to Florida from Virginia about a year ago. He owned a software company that wrote missle software for the dod. He said he got burt out and sold the company to his employees. Writing softare for the dod must be very profitable. When my friend and his wife move to Florida they built a new house and gave their old house with all the furniture to their son who is only 20. This year they purchased their son a new Escalade and are going to show up at his door with it on Christmas morning. Their son who just got married does not even know they are coming up to Virginia for Christmas.

I wish I had parrents like that. My parrents never had a lot of money but they were very good parents. Last year I was able to buy them a new Chrysler 300. I guess it's better to give then to receive.

Wow. How wonderful. I would be proud if you were my son!!!

Well, once 9/11 hit, my husband's company tanked, so in the long run, nope, it sure wasn't profitable like you might think. Just the opposite. That funding got shifted to terrorism. :(

(1) Do most on the site own detailing company's or do it as a side job?
I do a little on the side.

(2) Do most have a show car or two?
I don't have a show car, but done other peoples cars for a show.

(3)Or are most doing this amount of work on their everyday car only.
Yes, I've done full details on both of mine. Both of mine are due.

I'm a number 3. I would like to do some detailing on the side for a little play money someday.
