Who thinks Autogeek should sell the Big Red Sponge? Autogeek sells other Optimum Products so why not the Big Red Sponge?

It may possibly be that Optimum does not want to sell it through Autogeek. You used to only be able to get it through Dann Williams of Optimum until they decided that they would only be selling it in the US.

Lake country Blue and Big Red are totally different. In terms of softness and price just to name most obvi. People forget that AGO is a business and to sell a $20+ sponge... there's not much room for profit, just sayin. I mean if I had unlimited cash flow I'd get one for the s**ts but when hd and lows sells equally soft sponges for a fraction its a no brainer.

The company that sells detailing rags sells it. $24.95 and this weekend should be 15% off.

In your opinion, do the ones at the big box home improvement stores work as well for rinse less washes?

Do you use "The Bone" for Rinseless Washes?

I haven't yet, but that's what I bought it for. Sometimes GDWM gets a little tedious for me and doing searches showed the bone to be pretty popular in this regard.

If you're using a good quality high lubricity soap on your daily drivers, then I can't see where using either one of those sponges would hurt as long as a heavy blast of water knocks all the rough grit off before you wash, and of course how you proceed to touch the paint will also matter.

I do like my mf wash mitts though, but then again I don't currently own any sponges. However, I wouldn't be afraid to use any that AG sells...and why pay $25 for a sponge when that LC is probably as good as they come for a much cheaper price.

Weekend detailing vs production detailing would probably be a factor in choice as well, for some.

I use MF mitts usually, but I've read really good things about rinseless wash and grout sponge or Big Red.

I forgot to mention in the original post that the Big Red Sponge is not recommended for washing a car with soap. This sponge is designed for Rinseless Washes.

Now why would they not recommend using a super soft sponge with soap?

Either a rinseless product has enough lubricity to use either sponge, or it doesn't. That's indeed what the implication sounds like to me and if that be the case I would question rinseless washes altogether.

Water its self is a lubricant and these waterless and rinseless products, most all of them that I know of, can be used in a traditional wash of soap and water to help 'soften' the water. So, one would think that with a sponge soaked plum full of these 'softening' agent goodies, no special sponge would be 'required'.

Not trying to be argumentative, just stating it doesn't make sense to me.

I've eat crow on a few occasions though...you get used to it after a while. :)

I may have misspoke. I would say you can use the Big Red Sponge with car soap and I think it would be fine but I have never seen anyone use it for anything but Rinseless Washes.

Please let me low what you think
