Why do we obsess over LSP??

The question is why do we change to another lsp when it's working for us?
Well for me it's all about trying to improve plus I love testing products.

Agreed. I used Collinite 915 on my dark blue Audi S5 about 2 weeks ago. It looked great. But that didnt stop me from buying Supernatural Hybrid. I know for sure SNH will look great, but Ill then want to try out something else.

This is why products like opti seal and optimum car wax should be at the forefront of any detailers arsenal. Super easy and fast to use, great looks and durability. I probably haven't applied a paste wax in close to a year.

The DP Opti-Coat Paint Sealant is a top notch sealant.
As said easy to work with.
It's one of the easiest to remove IMO

True, poli coat is really nice but I haven't tried it in full sun condition yet. That will be the big test for me personally.

I think it's an irrational obsession that goes back to when we were kids.

I remember going to car shows with my dad and him telling me how the owners got their show cars to look so good. It was all about waxing. That sticks with me to this day, even though I know better.

My problem now is I'm a miser. I can't justify buying new high-end stuff, when I've got a few budget priced items in my garage right now. The internal conflict that comes from reading show-and-shine threads is terrible!

I'm not only having this issue with LSP's, but polishes too! There has to be one out there that will give me just that little extra shine over what I've got now.

Last night while on one of my obsessive searches for product reviews and pictures, I stumbled across a forum where the owner of a car had polished with Meguiars 105/205 and topped with NuFinish. The car looked amazing! I was humbled and realized the stuff in my garage isn't so bad after all.

And sometimes I'd get bored or tired of smelling the same scent over and over, and needed to switch out.

Take UWW+, for example. Excellent cleaning ability with the shine level that of FK425 (at 1:16 ratio), but the citrus scent can be too much at times. This is why I constantly rotate between it, D156, and M135 as boosters.

I would like to try the Prima line next. Heard lots of good things about their products.

I am not like that. :D

I like using:

Megs #26
Megs #21
Megs #20
Megs NXT
Megs Ultimate Wax
WG DGPS
WG Fuzion

Right now the ones I am using and like the best are WG DGPS and WG Fuzion.

But it's hard to beat Megs #26 and #21.

Prep work is everything, the polishing step is very important as the paint should look wet after then put on the LSP.

Right now I am really loving the look of WGDGPS on my white truck, looks like glass, and Fuzion on the Jeep.

But OTC products like NXT or Ultimate Wax can look awesome too so one doesn't have to spend a lot as long as the prep work is right.

Actually I don't think this obsession of LSP's is that strange. While I don't really think I have it for LSP's, I do have it for all around tools and products... :dunno: :detailer:

One of the times I went over to Meguiar's. He started talking about the old wet sanding blocks that I believe got discontinued, I think. Well he was mentioning how Chip Foose literally used these small blocks to wet sand a whole car. Now there is an obsession.

Also another Detailer got mentioned. I don't remember his name (I should really take a note pad to remember to write down all this information lol) Well I guess he is a famous detailer, who literally makes his own sanding blocks to fit the make and model of that particular car he is wet sanding that got painted and are going to be presented at Pebble Beach.

So while I do understand all the craze over LSP's, I feel that I am more of a different products and tools guy.

in my cart for my next order I have:

HD Adapt
Wheel Woolies 1.25 inch brush
Menzerna SF4000
Meguiars D171
2 tire brushes (1 thin and 1 wide)
Wheel Brush
Optimum GPS
Menzerna SF4500 (for jeweling)
Meguia'rs All Purpose Cleaner (I already have Meg's APC+ btw)
Speedy Surface Pro Mitt - Medium
Ultima Tire and Trim Guard

I also ordered last night Meguiar's D143

and a few other things... :buffing:

I don't obsess with LSP at all. Prep work is far more important to me than LSP. Almost anything looks good on paint that's polished as close to perfection as possible.

I think the artwork presentation on the labels can draw us in and justify the purchase.

Obsess? Who me?? It's the compulsion that gets me in trouble! :) I like and use a wide variety of LSP's and will continue to do so. Why? Because I enjoy it! Just like surfing and golfing, nice products and tools make the hobby that much more enjoyable.

I asked my lady if I have a AutoGeek shopping addiction. She said "yes you do!" Lol

She said yes I do after I showed her all 4 of my tires and how each one had a different dressing, haha. I had to justifiably agree with her in the end

I think the answer it because we enjoy it. If you find something that makes you happy, dont overthink it and try to make it rational. Just go with it.

Mark any LSP you have cant hang with my fresh coat of Pledge. The shine looks deep for miles. Its so slick, so wet. It buffs off so easy. It smells amazing too.

And don't forget to ALWAYS wash your car with Dawn!

I'm honestly not even going to TRY and think about how many different LSP's I have. What was that about grandchildren's children? And I don't even HAVE any grandchildren!

And I don't even have any of those fancy "waxes" of which y'all speak. ;) Short of a few panel pots of DoDo and that's it.

I think I am part of the "crazy" crowd as I cannot stay away from trying different LSPs.

So far within the past year I have coated my car with the following;
1.Wolf's Body Wrap
2. Wolf's Hard Body
3. CQuartz Finest
4. O.C 2.0
5. O.C Pro
6. I couldn't stop, so I topped whatever coatings I had with Collinite 845, Optimum Car Wax, Hydr02, and Powerlock.

Basically I coated different parts of my car with different coatings to run a durability test, but silly me still decided to put regular wax/sealant on top because it's so fun.

Looking at this list, I can't believe I have not applied 22PLE yet. That's one of my favorite coatings hands down in terms of ease of use, idiot proof, and extremely durable.

Hope you are working on a review :D

I'd really like to see the difference between OC2.0, CQuartz and OC2.0 Pro

Also 22PLE :)

Pictures would be nice or even a video

I still wonder how it is pronounced. It looks like "Twenty Two Apple" but I am probably wrong :dunno:
