This question isn't exactly about detailing, but what's your favorite windshield washer fluid? I'd like to find something that cleans really well, but doesn't damage paint or trim. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I like the orange Rain-X deicer stuff. Works well and leaves a lil Rain-X behind.

Does Rain-X leave a coating on the windshield that is difficult to remove? I want to also be able to clean the windshield with glass cleaner to take off all the residue.
Thanks!

It cleans off easy. You dont seem to get a whole lot protection, but it does help.

Rain X leaves a coating of ................Rain X. The water beads and comes off the windshield as your driving. I have never had a problem with residue or build up and use it in all my vehicles for the past few years.

Has anyone tried P21S windshield washer booster with just distilled water?

Blue stuff typically sold that won't freeze....

I just go with what I can find cheap. I do add some ONR to it though. I have also used straight water in the summer with the 303 tablets too. They worked well.

What's your ONR ratio? Does it leave a film?

No more film, it's digital now, hehehehee. Sorry, in a punchy mood. I add about an ounce or so to the gallon of fluid. I don't want to add too much as to affect the freezing point of it. It cleans the windshield beautifully actually. I quite like it. I add it to the 303 mix in the summer as well.

I wonder if ONR and water would work---without the OTC washer fluid.

Richy,

That's a great idea and I think I have a little to add to mine!! :dblthumb2:

I use the blue stuff at the store. I add 303 tablets when bug season starts and in the winter.

Have you used either of these products with just water, not with the otc fluid?
I don't believe add any freeze protection so I use with distilled water only in the summer. distilled washer is cheaper than the blue washer stuff

@OP, are you asking if products cause streaking, or leave a hydrophobic film that allows the water to bead and blow off while driving. Either way, any product that doesn't contain oils, waxes, or sealants shouldn't leave any visible film, and should be removed easily with a regular glass cleaner.
I have been using the RainX debugger for the last 6 years or so and love not having to use my wipers most of the time. If I run out of it I will use the BG "Class Act" WW concentrate a mechanic friend of mine gave me. It was free, so it is the most cost effective washer fluid I have found.LOL ;P It cleans pretty good but doesn't compare to RainX WFs. I will probably try the RainX Deice this winter if we ever get freezing temps more than just over night here in VA. I will def try out a Rinse-less wash in my fluid in Spring.
The thing I don't like about the blue washer fluids, even the BG concentrate, is that they leave blue residue on/around the reservoir and the sprayers.

:iagree:

This is my choice for all but summer where I'll tend to use the cheap blue stuff or water with an ounce of the Rain-X Washer Fluid Concentrate as a booster.
