Winter Detailing In The Garage...

I use the Mr Heater Big Buddy. Its made for indoor/outdoor use. No fumes and has low oxygen shut off.
Heats up my 2 car garage just fine.
You can use the small tanks or buy an adapter for a 20 pound tank

I use the Mr buddies for my hunting blinds. I tried one in my garage (2 1\2 car with high ceiling) and it didn't work as well for me.

Thats the same one I have. Thats Lowes version. The one I listed is Home Depots. Same heater, different color. Works well.

Indeed it is...and $10 dollars cheaper. I will be getting something soon.

Thanks for the response guys and hope you're enjoying your Christmas!

I use kerosene. I can wash in the garage down to 10 degrees (outside temp). You have to light it and extinguish it outside or by a door though cuz it gives off strong odor if not. It's not dangerous , just smells bad. I put in a vanilla additive so the smell is not to bad. Kerosene can get a little pricey. I'm a weekend warrior as far as detailing so I don't use much.

Alex- I do the same as above. I start it outside and let it run for about 10 min to clear the smell and get the wick adjusted and when finished shut it down slowly and there is not smoke or smell. I used to use additive to kill the smell but with starting it outside, I no longer need to use it.

Oh and a water filled metal pot on top of the heater cage keeps the 845 in prime condition!

Thanks Dan! I think you sold me on getting a Kerosene heater. Starting and stopping it outside seems to be the way to go. I may pick it up today.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I appreciate it. Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

My buddy has a 2 car garage and we ran a natural gas line from his house out to his garage. We then found a 'used' gas fire place insert on craigslist. We connected the gas fireplace insert to the gas line and there you have it. Turn that puppy on high and pull your snow covered car into his garage and within 20 minutes all the snow is melted and the car is dry.

OH SNAP! You got a picture of that? And you wanna come over and help me do that in my place?! LOL!

Hi Alex,

There are almost as many ways to heat your garage as there is to detail your car.

I have a propane heater connected to a 40# tank. I bought this heater at Lowe's and I think it's 150,000 BTU MAX and takes the chill off in my 3 car garage in about 20 minutes. I also have a woodstove that once it's going will provide enough heat so I car turn off the propane unit.

I'm going to be moving out of my current house in FEB to a place with a garage. I have a garage now but my roomates park their vehicles in it. It would be nice to finally be able to have a reliable place to take a customers vehicle out of the elements. Ive had to reschedule a few people because of rain.

Setting up a shelf with all my supplies right there and having a nice little setup inside my garage to mess around in and have a beer without worrying about whose gonna need to park their car would be sweet.
