My understanding is that they do testing beforehand including freeze testing. They had some more extreme weather, shipments sitting on trucks without moving, etc., that exceeded what the testing did. They subsequently made production improvements. Per Griot's, the initial product is still ok to use. Just doesn't look good. Advanced has it on clearance now, even the new production in green bottles. Probably because it looked terrible sitting on the shelf.I've seen the funky AIO at Autozone. Maybe these aren't being tested for long enough periods of time prior to release. I know one manufacturer would check for this type of separation issue before releasing a new product. I have stuff that's 10 years old that hasn't separated like that.
