WOW....prince is dead at 57

Wow, I didn't hear about it, thanks for the info. I always thought that Prince lived a healthy lifestyle, and it's surprising to me that he died at such a young age. Fifty-seven, that's way too young. I know that living without drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and the rest is no guarantee to a long life, but man! Rest in peace, Prince.

Saw that, very sad. Although I'm not from his era I still like his music

RIP Prince.

It may date me but so many of his early songs were the ones that I danced (yes, DISCO!) to. And his music were "the song" with several girlfriends. His music were very much a part of our lives back in the late 70's and early 80's.

Raspberry Beret, Let's Go Crazy, and 1999. Just wonderful.

So let me take you guys back to 1986, on my way to work while in high school and I'm jammin' air guitar to "Let go crazy" from Prince and I was so into it that I blew a red light and got a ticket, I deserved it and didn't even try to talk my way out of it either. I wish I could've seen him in concert because everything I've ever heard about him was that he put on a hell of a show! I know he played like 12 instruments and wrote and arranged the songs. He also wrote "Nothing compares to you" for Sinad O'Connor and IIRC he wrote the song "When you were mine" for Mitch Ryder.

RIP PRINCE!

He provided a lot of the soundtrack to my high school years. Can't believe he's gone! Just wow.... :(

And a number of others mentioned in his obit, I also recall he had many rumored uncredited "credits", like "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks.

I heard he was found unresponsive in an elevator, not in his home.
He was found in an elevator IN his home.

way too young to be gone already.. such a pioneer and innovator of both style and music, he will be missed... RIP PRINCE

I wasn't much of a fan, and didn't have any of his albums, but when I saw his performance at the 2004 Rock and Roll HOF paying tribute to George Harrison...whoa! If you have never seen it, check it out.

Picture Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Dhani Harrison and Prince sharing the same stage...

Guitar solo, Prince... Game, blouses. It was almost like he channeled a bit of the Jimi.

I knew he was pretty talented, but I was very much in to heavier music. That performance pretty much blew my mind.

It always sucks to lose musicians, but at least they leave us with stuff like that. Its great when it transcends genres. People you never thought would or could collaborate and it just turns out so good!

Apparently, Corey Taylor was playing in Minneapolis last night and dropped Purple Rain acoustically as a tribute.
