canemustang, i wanted to clear up a few things for you guys about this product. i was introduced to it and have been using it since early december. first of all the 30.00 oz. is in fact enough to do three avalanches complete and those are 60-70% plastic exterior. so if you break that down its about 10.00 each to do a ton of plastic! i would imagine you could easily do 6-8 regular cars from front to back. also you can do everything with it that is plastic, singe stage black (semi-gloss, flat or semi-black) or powder coated, including hithces, grille guards, tool boxes and even bedliners that have faded. i opened a 12 oz. bottle in december and i have demo'd easily several pieces on 30-40 cars and a few completes and i still have well over half of the bottle left. the prep is easy, just wipe everything down with alcohol (which gives you a real picture of what condition the plastic is really in) and that also etches the plastic at the same time. i have tried all of the different alcohols up to and including the one we use in the refinishing industry to remove mold release agent from new factory bumpers it is by far the best. you can use denatured alcohol, isopropyl 91 or 70% and this is optional but certainly produces the best results. there are a lot of products to enhance the appearance of plastic but i assure you this is a horse of a different color! all of these other products out there are topical, mostly silicone based that in effect destroy the surface of the plastic (silicone ceates a gas on top of the surface) it actually breaks down the surface of plastic prematurely and once the oxidation sets in it becomes a self perpetuating problem. Solution Finish penetrates the plastic and goes into even this damaged plastic and restore to the surface with the carbon toner that was used in the raw plastic to mold the piece black. it is a propietary mixture of this carbon toner, solvents and oil that do this work, and when the restoration process is complete you essentially have an out of the mold finish back to the surface of the plastic. i am really having to hunt to find something it doesn't work on! from grilles, cowls, roof racks, running boards, hatchback glass hinge covers, wiper arms, washer nozzles and all plastic moldings, bumpers, door pillar tapes textured or smooth, belt moldings some glass runs, mirrors, mud guards, engine undercovers you name it this stuff does just about all of it. i have talked with the owners of the company and i assure you #1 - there isn't another product on the market that is even remotely like it and #2 if you make the 30.00 investment you to will bcome an absolute believer. to be honest with you i feel like it is an incredible value. i have been in the autobody industry for coming up on 30 years and i have never seen anything like this. i spent 12 of those years in in so-cal working in the luxury car collision field and if you have been there i think would have to agree it is as close to the epi-center of the car culture. if you are feeling anxious about a 30.00 invesment i recommend you get over it and give it a try, i don't think for one minute you'll ever be sorry you did. hit me back when you have done so. finaddict
Hi
finaddict
I'm not
canemustang, rather one of the: "you guys".
I, too, enjoy the anonymity forums, such as the AGO Forum, provides.
But, there are AGO Forum members that have actually:
-Seen and talked to me in person.
-Observed and formed opinions regarding my "bodies-of-work".
Notwithstanding the ownership that Mr. Rich Evans has in the
Solution Finish product, his name, reputation, and bodies-of-work in car-culture centers is well-known, publicized, and cannot be disputed.
However, your stated "claims to fame", so far, have yet to be documented.
Once, and perhaps if, that documentation (real-world-name, car-culture epicenter's name/location, for example) has been made public, your above posting may take-on a more reasonable, feasible endorsement for the
Solution Finish product.
Being that you stated: "i have been in the autobody industry for coming up on 30 years"...probably puts you in the age 50+ bracket...same as me.
(At this stage (age) of my life, it would be more than welcome to find products that will perform as you allege...fewer times around a vehicle, so to speak)
But since I'm on a fixed-income, I would be more than overjoyed to find such products, if they exist, at more affordable prices.
Not every vehicle owner is a target for "up-sells"...No matter the amount of concerted effort, or beseeching from a Detailer is presented to a customer/client.
Most detailing supplies do have a shelf-life expectancy.
Just my opinions...
Best Regards,
Bob
