It's so funny you can absolutely see a "natural" dividing line between the products. This is a much better test compared to the sheeting test.![]()
It's hard to say how durable they both are and based on my recollection this is the first I have seen a side-by-side test with these two products. XMT 360 beads are tighter but that just shows the current state. It's possible 360's protection will degrade faster than D151 so it is still a crapshoot.
Thanks for doing a review on popular AIO products that are mainly used in production detailing Nick.
Sub'd for long term test results.
Thanks!!
Never tried XMT, but love D151. I will be using D151 tomorrow. I know the purpose of an AIO is 1 step, but I top it with 476s or 845.
I did a test last fall with xmt 360 and Duragloss 501/601. For each product I used the same type of green pads that I bought on BOGO, 6 inch Lake Country pads I believe. Wash, clayed, iron-x, rinse, then polish. I took some photo's, but I didn't get any photo's of the water action I noticed.
I primed each pad the same way, but I don't really recall the working time of either product. I too noticed faster shedding of water with the XMT 360 vs. Duragloss 501/601. The hood of the car was sprayed immediately after working each half of the hood with product. XMT 360 certainly shed water faster at least at first. However, I did notice with each product that as soon as the water was gone, I'd respray with water, water would drain off, then respray. About 4 cycles in of spraying, letting the water drain off, and then respraying, I noticed that with each consecutive spray of water the shedding ability got slower and slower. That is, it took longer and longer for the water to shed off the hood, and this occured with either product.
It's important to note that this is one use on the hood of one car. I also don't really recall the working characteristics of each product.
I have a question.
The xmt 360 I have is pink in color. Yours looks white for some reason and perhaps it looks that way because of the lighting next to that orange pad. Then again, it could be my monitor. Was your sample product white, or was it pink in color? It should be pink and I assume yours sample was pink too, but it doesn't hurt to ask and be certain.

The water receding up the hood was really cool!
D151 with MF cutting disc...
D151 is a very versatile product. I love it for one steps where I want to cut a little more than usual, or for softer clears it can really remove a lot of swirls. I just don't know if I'll ever go through the entire gallon! haha
D151 ftw !!!![]()
That is an awesome 50/50! I need to pick up some mf pads, seems like that's where d151 really works well.
thanks for the killer 50/50s! When's the next update on the truck?
Nice!
Did you do a 50:50 (D151:XMT) on that Honda?
You're welcome!! Update? Sure, here you go!
