XMT 360 vs D151 PRC

It's so funny you can absolutely see a "natural" dividing line between the products. This is a much better test compared to the sheeting test. :-)

It's hard to say how durable they both are and based on my recollection this is the first I have seen a side-by-side test with these two products. XMT 360 beads are tighter but that just shows the current state. It's possible 360's protection will degrade faster than D151 so it is still a crapshoot.

We will see! I definitely like the way XMT 360 beads compared to D151 (for now).

Thanks for doing a review on popular AIO products that are mainly used in production detailing Nick.

Sub'd for long term test results.

Your welcome! Thanks for looking! :props:

Never tried XMT, but love D151. I will be using D151 tomorrow. I know the purpose of an AIO is 1 step, but I top it with 476s or 845.

I hear ya. I usually at least top D151 with D156. Not sure it adds much longevity but I LOVE the way D156 beads.

I did a test last fall with xmt 360 and Duragloss 501/601. For each product I used the same type of green pads that I bought on BOGO, 6 inch Lake Country pads I believe. Wash, clayed, iron-x, rinse, then polish. I took some photo's, but I didn't get any photo's of the water action I noticed.

I primed each pad the same way, but I don't really recall the working time of either product. I too noticed faster shedding of water with the XMT 360 vs. Duragloss 501/601. The hood of the car was sprayed immediately after working each half of the hood with product. XMT 360 certainly shed water faster at least at first. However, I did notice with each product that as soon as the water was gone, I'd respray with water, water would drain off, then respray. About 4 cycles in of spraying, letting the water drain off, and then respraying, I noticed that with each consecutive spray of water the shedding ability got slower and slower. That is, it took longer and longer for the water to shed off the hood, and this occured with either product.

It's important to note that this is one use on the hood of one car. I also don't really recall the working characteristics of each product.

I have a question.

The xmt 360 I have is pink in color. Yours looks white for some reason and perhaps it looks that way because of the lighting next to that orange pad. Then again, it could be my monitor. Was your sample product white, or was it pink in color? It should be pink and I assume yours sample was pink too, but it doesn't hurt to ask and be certain.

I think I remember that write up. This XMT 360 that I have is a pink color. It almost looks exactly the same as D151 except it is more "liquidyish" and D151 is more like a paste. All the pics were just with my crappy cell phone so the lighting/colors are all out of whack.

D151 is a very versatile product. I love it for one steps where I want to cut a little more than usual, or for softer clears it can really remove a lot of swirls. I just don't know if I'll ever go through the entire gallon! haha

The water receding up the hood was really cool!

Yeah! Let's just say I may have used a little more water than what was shown in the video... LOL.

D151 with MF cutting disc...

^^ This is the magic combo!

Book some RV jobs. That'll take you through the gallon pretty quick. :xyxthumbs:

*** DIRTY 7 Day Update ***

It's been a week now since applying XMT 360 and D151. The truck has seen a few days of rain and is probably not getting washed until next weekend. I can no longer tell a difference in beading between the two sides... this may change after a bath though.

XMT 360 on the left, D151 on the right.

Will update accordingly next week after the first wash. :xyxthumbs:

Looks like XMT 360 is starting to fade in the beading, but that could be due to the dirt factor.

Keep it up Nick

My buddy came over today to hang out for a bit. My friends all know that if they stop by SOMETHING will end up getting done with their car.

If anyone has any extreme correction 50/50 shots using XMT 360 I would love to see them for comparison!

Updates on water beading, side-by-side, coming this weekend. :props:

That is an awesome 50/50! I need to pick up some mf pads, seems like that's where d151 really works well.

D151 ftw !!! :)

For real! :dblthumb2:

D151 + MF pads are magical. You get such good results in a truly 1-step process that leaves protection behind. I love it because it gives me the opportunity to offer so much more to my customers without sacrificing extra time on multiple polishing/waxing steps.

The next time my buddy comes over I will find another panel (the are all equally swirled to hell) and try a 50/50 with XMT 360. :props:

I finally got to test out some XMT 360 on a thrashed Honda Accord. This thing was HAMMERED! On to the pictures...

Overall I was very impressed. I was not expecting this much correction ability out of XMT. I would say (IMHO) it is a tie between ease of use and correction ability from each product.

thanks for the killer 50/50s! When's the next update on the truck?

You're welcome!! Update? Sure, here you go!

Nice!

Did you do a 50:50 (D151:XMT) on that Honda?

I thought about it... but it was getting late and I needed to blow through and finish the job (they weren't paying for correction anyway... I was just playing around on the hood). Plus it took FOREVER to clay the thing. :buffing:

Check this out... from ONE FREAKING PANEL, LOL! The entire car was equally contaminated. And this was after Iron-X:

So far they look even in almost every category, except for price; 32 oz XMT 29.99, 1 gallon of D151 36.99.
