Nice work Nick
:dblthumb2: :dblthumb2: 4 Thumbs up to you and D151. IMO it's awesome for a one step, just wish protection would last longer, but I either do a final wipe with D156 or Collonite 845/Megs UPW to top and your good to go.
If you want more gloss/shine do a second step with D151 and a finishing pad at a high setting. With D151 and a nice selection of pads you pretty much can knock ALMOST anything out, maybe not 100% all the time, but 75-85% correction depending on the paint system. I said almost anything......................lol
I really don't wat to buy a gal. of 151, does anyone have have an extra 8 or 16 oz. of d151? I might have something to give back.
I know this isn't the right forum, but seemed appropriate though.
Thanks,
Larry
Nice work Nick
Thanks Banzai! :dblthumb2:
Larry, shoot me a PM. I am going to have to re-order another gallon of D151 soon anyway...
Great vid!
So 3 passes with the XMT did not quite achieve the same level of correction as 2 passes with D151.
Would have been interesting to do the same number of passes with each, for a true "apples for apples" comparison, but still it's pretty clear which one is the winner in this case.
Thanks for sharing! :xyxthumbs:
:updated:
A buddy of mine just got a "slightly" used Audi and the first thing he did was call me and ask "Nick, this car needs your help, what can you do?"
He came over a few days later and we busted out a full detail. While he was working on the interior I had the opportunity to test the remainder of my sample of XMT 360 against D151 in a head-to-head paint correction face off!!!
Of course my camera died after I had everything ready to go... So, instead I made this movie for you guys. I hope you find it interesting and informative. If you don't like the music just turn the volume down. This is what I listen to when I detail and I don't care if you don't like it, haha.
YouTube says it will be ready in about 30 mins... I'm going to bed. Here is the link for your viewing pleasure:
XMT 360 vs D151 PRC: Paint Correction - YouTube
That's quite impressive.
For paints that aren't badly swirled out like that is the first very heavy slow pass needed? I feel like that would make the one step take a long time to complete if repeated on the entire car.
Thanks! The effectiveness of these two products never cease to amaze me.
This car was particularly jacked. The hood (shown in video) was the worst too. Most DD's will not require that level of intensive polishing to get the same results. I was able to move quicker on the side panels as they weren't so bad. This was an Audi wagon and took about 3 hours to polish. I was also working D151 to it's limit. For an AIO (my "express package") I would normally be promising only slight defect removal and aiming to spend less than 1-2 hours total polishing time (including taping trim, etc.).
Sounds like you've gotten d151 down pretty good! Nice work
Just got my gallon of D151. It shall replace XMT360 on a client car next weekend. Ill share my results as well with you all
That's pretty dang impressive. Is your truck garage kept though?
And did you let d151 haze before wiping it off?
Outside 24/7 in Oregon. Didn't let either of them haze. Just polished and wiped residue.
