Yay? OR Nay? 1950 Ford Custom

1950 Ford Custom

I'm detailing this car for the upcoming Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The owner says the paint is rough, needs to be clayed. Also has lots of swirls and scratches from years of neglect.

I can almost feel the vibes of “Misirlou”,
~Dick Dale, and his Stratocaster...

So that’s a Yeah! from me.

That car is SWEET!!

A very cool car with some nice touches like the 2-piece windhshield, spinner hubcaps, and that grill(e) !

But I don't think all that white paint does the styling justice, black would have been the way to go IMHO.

It's begging to be dropped too ...

It looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. Get rid of the side mirrors and the windshield wipers. Also the fuzzy dice have to be trashed. Great car that needs to be updated. So yea!

How well do you like polishing chrome? Looks like there is a lot to do between the grill and the trim pieces.

Looking at it strictly from a work perspective it could be a fun job. The actual painted surfaces are pretty simple (no strange creases or curves) and wouldn't be hard to polish out. If it has been really neglected I bet the 50/50s showing how the white paint will change color should make some good posting fodder for the forums.

I vote, go for it!

I have always let others join me for fun projects like this.

Did this when I worked at Meguiars in Irvine, California and ran their forum and taught thei classes - do it here.

Just Car Wax History - who else does this and documents it in the industry? For years?

Anyone that is local - your welcome to join me

Post SEMA Detail Night! Check out new STUFF!!!!!

Making more history...

(and documenting it)

I don't mind the mirrors or wipers so much,,unexpected rain pops up alot in Michigan but you're right,,those fuzzy dice gotta go.
I dig the paint scheme myself,I grew up around hot rodding and this was always one of my favorite schemes,or scallops

Would much rather see a car like this in one solid color. Let the car and it's chrome do the shouting out at you.

Get rid of the fuzzy dice? How dare you even think such a thought.
