You all are going to think I'm NUTS!!!!!

Callaway let me borrow the first SC552 Camaro they built. I found it impossible to see out of in the 1500+ miles I drove it.

For me, the sight lines from the Mustang are much better.

Good luck with the Camaro.

Like sands through the hourglass, or Mark getting a different car, so are the days of our lives..........

Good luck with the Camaro! :dblthumb2:

Can we get some squares going on when he trades this one in too?? :)

Good one Derek:iagree:

Looks alone: While I think the new Camaro is a *neat* looking design, BUT it looks more like a robot to me than a vehicle. Also not fond of the way it drives.

I hope you like it Mark!

:iagree:.........guess that's why Hollywood used it in the Transformers movie, huh! Don't get me wrong on one point, I want them (GM) to sell every last one of them because that's just good for everyone concerned:props:

^^ Used C6 Z06 has gotta be the best bang for the buck out there, even a well maintained C5 for that matter, hell! I'm sure there's a few "tweaks" for the C5 that get it close to 500 hp!

+1

I bought my C6Z with less than 5K miles and saved enough money (vs. buying new) to buy my wife a brand new camry. It was a complete win/win because she was wanting a new car herself.

And for the record, I'd have my money bet on the C6Z against virtually ANY mustang!!

I'm a GM guy if you haven't noticed..

Have to give the Ford guys credit though, that new mustang is a sharp car. :props:

OP - Any plans for a custom tag?

Totally forgot it was in Transformers... Good design for a movie robot concept a car ehh, not my cup of tea for a car

You and me both...

I was on a Camaro kick for a while (also grew up in a GM family) but the 2SS wasn't all that much more than what my '06 GTO has as far as power and other features. 425HP in the Camaro, 400 in my car.

While the Mustang numbers are respectable, it just seems like everyone owns one. The GTO was never a huge seller for Pontiac in the three years the new style existed and that's what I like. I like how I can drive around all day and never see another GTO. You can't say the same for Camaros and Mustangs, particularly because they offer V6 models and that's what most around here seem to be.

Now I've been looking at the GMC Terrain as a winter vehicle as I put the GTO away. My current winter vehicle has 170K on it so I think it's time for an upgrade. I always loved the Z06's but they are alot of money, even used.

I tried to lease an 05' GTO back in 2005, with the option to buy and check this out, the salesman said I couldn't test drive the car because the owner noticed how many people were tearing it up out on the test drive. I was 35 years old at the time and had $5k to put down on it too, no dice! I left pissed off and should've went to another dealership but I didn't, couldn't find my next choice, EVO that was untouched and ended up leasing a Crossfire Limited 6 speed for 2 years, oh well, closest thing I'll have to an M-B, that's for sure!

I will never understand why the GTO wasn't more popular, it looked great and the interior was even better, kinda like a "poor man's M3" (although the car wasn't that cheap in price and certainly not cheap in quality!) They addressed 2 things the second year, added to the looks with the hood scoops, added dual exhaust and lastly, MOAR POWR!!! (not that it was lacking with the 5.7L) I do wish they'd offered it w/o the spoiler on it, I've seen people remove them and they look soooooooo much better IMO. Lastly the wheels, although its easy to change them out, the stockers are pretty boring IMO.

Gas Tires Oil.......oh wait, that's the old ones:laughing:

I prefer the looks of the camaro more also. I think the mustang has it beat on performance unfortunately though. Do the 5.0s still have that tranny problem?

I don't know why it didn't sell either. It really is a good car mechanically though I'm not overly impressed with the factory Aussie paintjob. I agree on the wheels. I have 17's but I think the 18's look a little better. I was looking at aftermarket wheels but very few really appealed to me. The spoiler doesn't bother me as far as looks, though it cuts rear visibility down.

The sales problem I saw was there weren't many options. Manual or Auto transmission, interior/exterior colors, and wheel size were about it. Everything else was the same and couldn't be changed.

As for Gas, Tires, and Oil, the tires are soft so the rears don't have an extensive life. I can't complain about gas mileage, I got about 25 mpg on a trip to NC, that's nothing to sneeze at for a 6.0 V8. Around town is good enough, maybe 16 or 17.

Mark, you new screen name should be SWITCH-A-ROO.

Now, as far as your choice in cars, well, its your ride, that's all that matters and I grew up in a GM house but never got into the whole Mustang/Camaro/Firebird thing at all, I liked the Grand Nationals but in HS and right out of HS those cars were a dream but in 95' I bought a used 87' GN and realized my dream, I didn't hesitate one bit, so always go with your heart in these matters.

Now IMO, the Camaro is too bloated and big, I know all the current muscle cars are waaaaay larger than their older brothers, but IMO the Stang is the most sleek and the restyle even more so, even if the proportions are similar to the 2005-09's. Even the Challenger, with its four wheel drive-esqu' wheelwell gap, is better lookin' IMO. If its true what they say about the next Camaro being smaller, I'll be interested in seeing how that turns out for sure.

Enjoy the ride Mark, I'm sure the Camaro is well built car, its a GM afterall!
.

The Camaro is about 4k lbs

Are you serious? Thats rediculous, my altima weighs in at around 3250. And its a 4 door.

Along with my last post, this just proves these new cars are way to big. I mean for cripes sakes, look at the challenger, its gigantic.

Hence why I'm not a big fan/believer in the modern muscle car (or about 90% of them anyways). I'm pretty sure the camaro is over 4200lbs without gas/driver if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah the current Challenger is built on a modded platform for the 300, so that explains the size there, cool for the 300/Charger, no so much for the Challenger. I did read somewhere that next Challenger is going on a diet and some "nip/tuck", we can only hope! The modern muscle car should be as close to the old one in proportions IMO, so going a step down in size is step in the right direction, hell, I wouldn't even complain if the modern muscle car had a hi-po V6, either blown or S/C'd even, then the larger V8 like it has now and ofcoarse the "Uber" editions, gotta have those, hell, the COPO Camaro is even back out, good luck seeing one of those around, hell, you probably will not even see one at the drag strip....where it belongs! All this "Barrett-Jackson" histeria will keep these cars from being out on the roads, whether its back roads, the high road or the 1320, a real pity. Yeah, "buiid it and they will come", yeah, come to pick it up (in a trailer) and then into moth balls. Those who did that to the 78' Corvette pace car and 82' Collector edition Vettes, how'd that work out for you:p

I've gotta say it once again, the Mustang is in the lead with various platforms for their car:

-2.0L Ecoboost turbo (SV0)- lighter weight, 6 speed only and geared for track duty as well as street use. It currently has 252 hp and with some further lightening of the car, well, that would just aid in handling/braking/steering and ofcoarse performance. SVO specific items, like the double wing of the past, hood scoop and change up the headlights some way, just like the old versions had in the 85-86' moels. MPG's would be a tick higher than the V6 model too, helping with the CAFE numbers:props:

-3.7L V6 (320 hp now), drop in the EcoBoost engine from the SHO and take it up to about 375 hp as an option. Give this one either the auto or 6 speed, various gear ratios, optional suspensions and maybe a bit more of a "Euro" look and things to make the "SHO Stang" unique to itself, just like the SVO above!

-5.0L and 5.8L....KEEP DOING WHATEVER IT IS THAT YOUR DOING THERE! 420-650, WOW! Maybe a small turbo for the base GT as an option to go a little up the ladder and add to MPG's, gotta keep those CAFE numbers on par, right:xyxthumbs:

I've been hoping that Ford brings over the Falcon too, forget all about the idea of that 4 door Mustang, stop looking at the Panamara (you'll end up turning to stone anyways if you do!) That is the worst idea ever, especially when you've already got the Falcon down under and lookin' AWESOME! There you've got a car that's ready to compete with the M3/AMG's of the world instead of ruining the Mustang and its heritage, I mean we've forgiven you for the Mustang II, so don't rock the boat guys!

I'm guessing you're not married.

Do you take this woman....
I do
I mean I don't
I mean I'm not sure
