Not polished, but clayed & waxed. I knew I couldn't be the only one. Of course, the garage door is closed every time I do it. Same thing with the refrigerator & chest freezer. Polished my stainless sink to a mirror finish once. It quickly went back to dull, so I didn't bother to keep it up. I could go on, but I won't. Just to say, I like clean.

Actually I would say you don't touch the paint because you might scratch it :-). You look at the paint at weird angles to see if there are swirls or scratches.

One thing I find is more often than not I will see a paint job that is nice and then see they still have the dealer plates on.

Not every car, but the occasional car that looks super clean. I lightly brush the back of my fingers across a small area to see if it's as slick as my cars. So very few times I'm surprised.
 
You detail your friends truck for free because you don't want to be seen in it as it sits and it's the primary tow vehicle when we go fishing.
 
During the taking of a shower and you think about glazing the shower wall tile to increase the shine. Then apply a spray wax to the bathroom mirror
 
When you wrench on BMWs and Audis all day for a living, and you feel a small piece of your soul float away every time you see all the swirls and scratches in the car's paint as you lift it.

When you use a clay bar to remove contamination from your exterior house windows and apply glass coatings to keep them super clean
 
lol after reading most of this thread I'm happy to say I am not an autogeek. Just someone who can balance a normal life while keeping a black car swirl free lol
 
... you see a super nice car like a Ferrari or Lambo and all you can see is swirls in the paint.
