Your favorite "smelling" leather cleaner?

Bringing this thread back from the dead!

What is everyone liking these days? I'm looking for a new cleaner/conditioner/uv protectant all-in-one type of leather product. Tried Griot's 3-in-1, Mother's VLR, Adam's stuff, etc and still haven't found one I really like. I know Meguiar's stuff always smells awesome. Perhaps D180 is the way to go?

I just used TW "Inside job" on my truck this weekend and it has nice smell....it's seemed more of a detailer after a spray and wipe off, you wonder if you even did anything....no change in surface(shine/richness)

I recently treated all the leather in my 2010 Audi with something a bit different. It's a product called "Leather Honey". While i wouldn't use this product on new leather, this car is older and the leather needed softening and this stuff really did the trick. It's a lot of work to apply since it requires a lot of rubbing into the leather and its best to apply thoroughly and then use a microfiber the following day once it's completely soaked in. I have to say it makes the seats and steering wheel feel far better than any product ive used. Oh, and doesn't give some fake leather smell and will make leather smell like how it should.

Not a fan of all in one interior. If i was just gonna do that would just use interior quick detailers really often.
Any Adam’s IQD has a pleasant smell and for cleaner P&S Xpress has grown on me…. Smells clean.

Really? I absolutely hate Megs D180, in both scent and the horrible oily appearance.

You could always throw a street hooker in the back seat after D180....they smell pretty good.....well what I've been told anyway:D

I still haven't tried an Adam's QID scent that I like and I've tried like three lol. I use P&S Xpress often, it's a fantastic cleaner and I love how it leaves nothing behind. I guess I'm looking more for a leather "conditioner" that can pull a little bit of cleaning duty if I need it. Basically a replacement for Griot's 3 in 1 leather. I liked the product, but not the dang scent. It also separated on me and had to be thrown out.

Surprised to hear that some don't like the scent of D180. I wonder if any of the OTC Meguiar's products would be good, like their Gold Class Rich Leather. Or maybe Mckee's 70/30 leather...

Poorboys natural look… Smells like black cherry for about a day, then dissipates… It’s multi surface so that you can use it on leather, plastic ,everything inside the car. After that I have some chem guys leather scent/odorizer spray that I spray down the mats with every month, and it makes the entire car smell like leather for that amount of time. Works good.

I’m confident Megs D180 doesn’t smell bad. PM me your address and I’ll send you a sample.

It’s in the mail.
Let us know what you think.

I received this package on Monday, thanks Eldorado!!

I gave it a small test run on the back seats of my GLI. To me Meg's D180 smells like a cross between their Natural Finish interior dressing and the Quik Interior Detailer, both of which I use regularly because I love the way they finish the surface and smell. No fake leather smell, thank goodness!! QID can go on with a weird vinegar-like scent at first but as it dries it smells really, really fresh and does a great job at deodorizing. D180 is kind of similar in a way, it has a scent of some sort of cleaning chemical but finishes with a fresh smell when it is dried. I did a 50/50 on one of the back seats and the next day it left the black perforated leather noticeably darker and nice and soft to the touch without any oily residue I could detect. Didn't get any pics as it's kind of hard to see, but I definitely noticed an effect that was what I was looking for.

I think I'll be purchasing a gallon of this along with another gallon of QID. Can't go wrong with Meguiar's and their effectiveness, not to mention the price. :dblthumb2:

I vacuumed my interior and wiped down my seats & door panels with D180 the same day I sent you the sample and you’re right, it’s not very easy to take pics showing the difference.

However 3 days later while I was driving I noticed a clear 50/50 on my dashboard. It’s funny how this picture shows how careful I am not to accidentally get anything on my windshield, so much that I won’t dare come near it, hence why the 50/50 line is so far away from the edge. Lol.

[yellow arrows point to the 50/50 line]

Good news is the glass is clean. :)

I must have got a bad or old batch of D180 it seems.

My use of D180 left the leather oily and greasy. The smell was not offensive but just not to my taste, like a simulated leather smell.

I used it on this Landcruiser with grey leather, which looks ok but was slippery to sit on. I found it was worse when I applied it to black Subaru leather though. I tried it again on a Ranger and still hated it. I have the better part of a gallon taking up space in my cabinet.

Again, perhaps I got a dud?

I dunno I’m really stubborn when it comes to believing in bad batches. I think there’s more of a chance of a vendor selling old stock.

Whatever the case it’d be a shame since you’re so far away the least you deserve is a proper fresh example of a product.
