you're all invited to my house for dinner!

Gary you the man with that house you got or should I say mansion hehehe makes sense....it goes with the cars....nice!

So

Dam it sorry ignore my previous response, I accidentally posted that one.

So as I was saying,

Originally I'm from Nicaragua, mom and dad wanted there kids to be better off so my dad hopped on the plain and landed in Canada then the rest of the family came over. I ask my dad why he picked Canada and he just shakes his head and says "I have no idea how I picked Canada, I just did" So I bug him I say, why wouldn't you pick a worm weather place and he just laughs at me hehehehe.

It's all good, life styles is nice just the weather. The thing that really sucks though is that those bananas (the real bananas) they are rare here In Canada and that I know because I search for them all over Calgary. I found some but they are old and beat-up and I hate eating beat-up food.

My wife laughs at me when I find real bananas, she bugs me because she says that I'm like a kid that just got a sucker hahahaha.

So

Nica, My house is far from a Mansion but it's about 4,000 sq ft under air conditioning with an additonal 2 garages totaling another 1,000 sq ft or so. When I purchased it about 10 years ago it needed some work and I got a really good deal on it. I don't think I could afford it at todays prices even with the real estate market being down from what is was. I have been remodeling it ever since I brought it. It seems like it never ends.

I have never been to Nicaragua but I have been to the following Cental American countries: Costa Rica, Belize and Panama. It's very pretty down there but it's hard to make a good living.

I like the banana tree tropical look too. I have 1/2 acre but my back yard is not that big. On each side of my house I have my little banana tree forests. I live on the water and my house sits back far with a lanai on the back then there is a concrete dock so the back yard is not that deep. At one part the linai goes almost all the way back to the dock.

sounds wonderful! You should post up a pic for us someday. :)

Jen, these look really thick, how thick do you slice them, what temp. of oil and for how long? Thanks!;)

That's how thick I slice mine too. :) I use a medium size frying pan that I use just for frying platano and I fill it about half way with regular cooking oil like canola, corn or vegetable. I put it on medium high and let the oil get hot. Then I put the platanos in and let them cook for awhile on one side and then flip them over and let them cook on the other side. When they look like that picture or even a little darker, I take them out and put them on a plate that has a paper towel on it. You serve them as a side dish to chicken and rice or some other similar style meal. :)

Dude that house is huge!! Nice garage probably as big as my house hahaha

Yup, I know what you mean once you start working at the it feels like it will never end. This summer I have a bunch of project for the house, need to insulate the garage, got to build the fence, need to re-do a bathroom, may need to re-do some drywall on the basement....and the list goes on and on.....

It's all good, I enjoy working away at what I own. I agree post some :Picture: sounds like a good place to crash ;)

So you like to travel, Costa Rica is a gorgeous place to visit. I've been there a few times and it's lots of fun. Unfortunetly, most Central American countries are poor and yes extrememely hard to make a living. My family owns lots of land and lots of businesses so they live well but my parents did not like the way of life...kill or be killed, would be the best way to describe it. Very unstable in Nicaragua, it's beautiful but unstable. I love visiting and will probably retire there but not to raise a family that's for sure.

Jeez man, that is quite a nice house, especially being on the water. You've done good for yourself my man!

Market value for that house down there is about $800,000 right now! Chump change;) haha.....just kidding Gary. Very nice and would love to see some pics someday. I love your driveway by the way:p

FloridaNative & Nica, Here are some pictures per your request:

Old picture of house before I had the driveway done in pavers. The picture cuts of the left part of the house were there is a master bedroom, master bath, office and half bath.

Picture of part of Lanai. I live on a cannel 1 house form a large river that leads to the Gulf of Mexico. It takes about 20 minutes to get there but boat or jet ski.
Linai2.jpg

Pictures of kitchen. I did all the remodeling work, cabinets, tray ceiling, drywall, granite tiles, electrical, plumbing, crown molding. Everything except the granite counter top.

Kitchen2.jpg

Partial picture of master bath remodel. I did all the marble and ceramic tile work. The cultured marble bath tub was already there. I just buffed it out with my rotary and put in new fixtures. I did some more designs out of marble in another part of the bathroom that you can not see in the picture.

Bathroom.jpg

Picture of extra bathroom I'm currently working on. I tore everything out of it including the bathtub, cabinets and old tile. I did it all in marble including the floor and 3 walls. The cabinets are wood just like the ones I put in the kitchen. I did the the old cultured marble vanity top and again buffed it out with my rotary. I'm almost done with it now.

My family comes from Asturias in Northern Spain and the Canary Islands. From there they went to Jesus del Monte in the outskirts of Habana, Cuba and from Cuba they came to Tampa, Florida and we've been in Florida ever since. :p So my blood is mostly Spanish but Cuban too. :)

Breath takeing house so when can we all move in?? heheh

Thanks, FloridaNative, Nica and Denwood1 for your complements. I have done a lot of work on the house especially on the inside. Like Nica says it never ends. I have a long list of things that I need to do and want to do to it.

We don't have any little kids just 4 parrots that can really make a mess. One of my parrots is sitting on me know and he keeps trying to get my keyboard and get to the papers on my desk. He wants to play but he's about to go in his cage.

I use to have a side business importing the vases, furniture and artwork from China. I really like the vases and kept a lot of them. Lately I have been importing semiprecious stones like Amethyst from Brazil, Uruguay and Peru. It's kind of fun because I can travel there and write it off as an expense. I want to find something good to import from Austrailia so I can go there.

Denwood1, most of my swords came from Japan and Spain. I have one German sword that an old neighbor gave to me. He took the sword from a German SS Officer prisoner in WWII. I'm always helping him out and he gave me the sword for my birthday a couple of years ago. He gave me the sword along with the whole history of how he came about it (pretty cool). I have a lot more swords that are not in the one picture.

Do your parrots talk? I love birds. They're noisy and messy, but so pretty. :p

Maybe you can import Veggiemite from Australia. :p J/K, they do have aboriginal art, that would be something like the native american crafts that we have here. I have a friend in Queensland that sent me a beautiful hand painted boomerang that was all decorated with aboriginal symbols. Very nice.

My brother-in-law was stationed in Okinawa for several years. He brought my husband a beautiful set of swords from there. I'd love to have a samurai sword. Those things are just so cool and plus I could threaten my kids with it when they misbehave. :p
