So I stocked up on the 6.5" Hybrid Power Finish pads from LC since they fit the original 5.5" Flex backing plate perfectly, and picked up a couple gallons of the new Wolfgang Uber Compound.
First issue when I checked the markings on the plastic bag containing the pad. The yellow pad says "Cutting". The orange pad had a sticker on it saying "Polishing", but under the sticker it said "Cutting".
From the site the yellow pad is a polishing pad, and the orange is heavy cutting. I guess LC packed yellow pads in a cutting marked bag, and that the "Polishing" sticker was supposed to be placed on this bag, and not the orange pad bag?
I find it a bit weird alltogether tho since the yellow pad is increadybly hard and dense - shouldn't this be a cutting pad? I get far less marring with heavy compounds on the white pad versus the yellow pad, which shouldn't be the case?
Another issue, the yellow pad seems to disintigrate like crazy combined with the Uber Compound. I've tried this on 2 pads, and after just working them 5 minutes, they begin to shed foam like mad.
I've provided a picture of a yellow pad with Uber Compound used for 10 minutes, and a orange pad used with Uber Compound for 2+ hours.
Is this the reason why the yellow pad was "rebranded" as a polishing pad?
