Microfiber Towels

Wow, ~TumbleWeed~, that's cool! I'm not sure I have quite that many, though it's possible. I should take stock as well. But I think I've mentioned before I plan to cull all the towels I don't use or don't really like using (I'm looking at you, 16x24 Ultra-Plush Junior!), so my inventory would show that as well.

I've got towel laundry going right now, all the better ones are out of the dryer -- about 20 each color Eagle Edgeless, 20 Ultra-Plush Junior, a few Avalanche and Everest, some Chinese rolled-edge 360s -- and perhaps 75 Kirkland Gold and Simoniz utility towels are in the washer and dryer.
 
Thanks for the replies. 2nd question I have is, what do you guys use for cleaning them? Looking to order some supplies as soon as I research a little more.

After trying a microfiber detergent and also using Tide Free, I've liked using Charlie's Soap (liquid not powder). It's HE compliant, cheap on Amazon, and it's been very effective.

I wash ALL my Rinseless, WW Glass, and Drying MF towels together in the same load.

Everything else, including general maintenance, compound, polish, and wheel towels soak in a five gallon bucket w/ a little APC for a few hours before being washed separately from the other towels!

So I usually try and do two separate loads.

If I only have a small amount of towels to wash, I'll just hand wash them in a five gallon bucket w/ grit guards.

For soap to clean them, I simply use ALL Free & Clear along with a little distilled white vinegar.

Looks like it must be highly concentrated if you only use 2 tablespoons per load.

If you have a Vitamin Shoppe anywhere near you, they sale Charlie's Liquid Laundry Soap for way less then anything seen on Amazon.

And they have FREE SHIPPING if it's a $25 order or more.

Yes, it is, I have soft water and on a small load (of clothes) I use just 1/8 oz. Of course it all depends on the soil level and what it is.

It is. I barely use any at all. It took a while to get used to using so little because you use even less detergent cleaning microfiber, but once I trusted the amount to clean well enough it hasn't let me down.

ok, dumb question but something I've been wondering about. Do you wash your towels after every use no matter what? For example, I detail the car, then use a QD for a topper and the towel looks clean (should be clean)..should I still wash it?

If I've used any chemical and touched the paint with a towel, I'll wash despite it looking clean...

Exactly. Just because it 'looks' clean, does not mean it is clean. It's the stuff you DON'T see that can really mess up all your hard work.
 
Thanks guys...that's what I've been doing (my philosophy as well) but didn't know if I was being to OCD.
 
Just made my first order with MFT this weekend. Picked up 30 of the 400 gsm Elite Ultra Fine edgeless blue while they were on sale.

I plan on using these for rinseless as well as other normal tasks. I think they should work well, currently I'm using the CG gold/black border towels for rinseless and they work pretty good.

I like having one side longer nap and one side a tighter weave when I do them so I have 4 sections of the towel for washing and then I wring it out and use the clean side with the short nap in 4 sections to dry most of the water off.

I'm thinking these 400's should be nicer and a little thicker than the CG golds.
 
I'm trying to find some towels for buffing the car, cleaning up bird droppings and drying the car.

I've got a chemical guys gift certificate so hopefully something from their range otherwise the Rag company Eagle edgeless looks good. Any recommendations ?

Rag co. and MFT edgeless towel sound good. wanted to order them but sadly they don't ship to my location.

If you have CG gift certificate just go ahead and use them :)
Their happy ending towel look similar to the above source :D

Shipping from US to overseas is expensive and that will bring up the cost per towel too.

I decided to go with the MFT edgeless towel !

Now i've got to learn how to store them properly and care for them when i'm using !
