What's your Day Job?

I am a trashman 65-70 hours a week so it doesnt leave much time for anything else when you add the commute in. I have been a shiny car addict for 20 years. But only got into machine polishing and non over the counter products a year ago. Since then I have done 7 of our big rigs with single stage paint and 6 cars/trucks/suvs 4 of which were black. I have so much more respect for the work and time it takes to do real paint correction now.
 
Fully retired!

When I started detailing, we used a dirty sheep for compounding and a clean lamb for buffing. They really didn't like being pushed back and forth on a car.

I work inside at a Pizza restaurant. I sell some pizzas on the weekend to people out in the town. I'm also working on a book and a job that's more compatible with my Sociology degree.

I got a 2014 Altima a year and a half ago, my 1st car. Gradually going from uh uh how do you take care of it to full autogeek to people going omg you always detail your car to omg you should detail on the side.

We run mostly hexane and xylene. Weve ran orange oil before too, and boy that smelled great! We have 2 plants that we run the hexane and xylene on another 2 we use water/salt water and one that we use isopar k.

Our columns arent as big as the refinery's though ;)
 
I'm 33 and I work at a Guest Access WI-Fi company as an IT Project Manager. I got into detailing when I purchased my 2009 Jeep SRT8 about 3 years back (also got bit by the mod bug). At this point, I considered myself to be a skilled enthusiast detailer. I've completely removed the orange peel from my Jeep SRT8 and even body shops can't believe that was my first attempt with a DA, ever since then I've been improving my final polishing and jeweling techniques. LSP have been the bane of my detailing spectrum, but I finally found one I like (FK1000p).

A lot of the same principals apply i.e. eye for details, being meticulous, satisfaction in making something look the absolute best it can be.
 
I take care of all the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management for a large national supply chain company.

Been here 16 years now. It pays the bills, but since I found detailing a few years back, it is all I dream of doing all day.:buffing:
 
Still under 21, I'm currently building my detailing empire,my first business. Long story..when I started. Grown $$ - $$$$

Must be a lot cleaner, too. Besides gas and diesel we have byproducts like asphalt, slurry (similar to asphalt) and liquid sulfer. Not fun to work with.

That water tower sounds like it would be nice to work. 😃
 
Automotive Technician-15 years. Working under Mopar at the moment.

That part in bold is exactly how I feel about nursing since I started detailing my car earlier this year.
 
Electrical Engineer at one of the larger Aerospace companies.
