Hi guys long time lurker, learned an awful lot from you guys over the years. I purchased HD Adapt right before it was discontinued. But none the less I'm having an issue with Adapt drying out quickly. I'm using an orange 5.5" LC flat pad on a Flex 3401 working at speed 4 to 5. I tried priming the pad, then read here not to prime the pad and went with 8 pea side drops on a dry pad in both instances it seemed to dry out quickly after only 3 2'by 2' passes and then it's a bear to get off. I tried a slight mist of water, same thing. I tried working it less (before it dries out)and I don't get all the defects out. Tried working it longer with light pressure towards the end of the last pass until you can hardly see the product on the vehicle and removed easier I would have thought that the there would be some hazing. I will say the finished look is almost LSP ready. I think it's a great product I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. I see other guys saying it has long workability. Im working on a 2014 Black Dodge 1500. Hope you can make some sense of my ramble. Thanks in advance.

Are you working in the sun? Only time I had issues with short work time and drying out was when I tried to use it in direct sunlight. Pulled into the garage and had no issues

I found if I used too much product it dusts and I needed very little 4-5 drops

Just had the same issue with Adapt on my Rupes 21 with an orange CCS pad. No prime and pea size drops.

I wasn't in direct sun but being a black truck I have to assume the surface could have been warm. I will be conscience going forward. Thanks

I have trouble with Adapt as well, it balls up after only a section. I dont use much at all. Maybe its the pad, I dont remember what one I was using.

I've used Griots fast correcting cream in direct sunlight and it was 90 degrees outside. Didn't dry out and wiped off easy. I stopped using Adapt long ago. It's sticks to paint more often than not. HD Cut sticks to paint as well. It's not a shock to me Adapt was discontinued; never liked it.

On that Black Z it corrected like a dream with my G21 and orange pads and wipe off was effortless. Zero dusting and amazing finish for a one step.

I know one thing for sure, their isn't a product made that can be used on a black car down here in Florida outside in the middle of the day in July and it not toast it.

Let's take different two scenarios, one it's been outside since the sun rose and it sat for 5-6 hours in direct sun and the other it's been sitting outside just the time it takes to wash it. First scenario it would be tough to even wash it without water spots forming before you could get it dry. Second scenario it would be so hot that whatever polish you used it would still bake it.

When I did that Z when I washed it I couldn't get it dry fast enough to keep water spots from forming and that was 9:00 am.

Out of all the polishes I've used in Florida high humidity and heat in the middle of the summer in the garage on cool cars for me HD Polishes dust the least. Menzerna was serious dust as were some other house brands. I remember SF2500 on a Black BMW I did with my PC a few years ago and it was a disaster. It looked like a pollen bath. OMG! I had to totally rewash the car.

The only time I've found Adapt sticks is if the pad is overloaded. Initially I had issues but quickly learned that less is more. I prime 6" pads with 4 pea sized drops and it goes quite far. Medium pressure with a Flex 3401 and I work it until it's barely visible. Zero issues but a damn nice finish.

Never used too much. Seemed like it clogged up pads too quickly, regardless. A company doesn't discontinue a product that does well for them. It's interesting because it seems a good amount of people like it.

The discontinued it because the new release of HD Cut+ provided too much overlap to warrant having both since the end results of both were equivalent. I've not used the new HD Cut + and thankfully I have a 32ox bottle of Adapt plus a partial 16oz left.

In the end, it is a great product. Not sure what pads or machine you used but I've never seen it clog a pad. The product is actually fairly thin in consistancy and the only time I've ever really clogged a pad is when I tried to skip a clay-bar decontamination or was polishing a very badly oxidized surface where by the oxidation was being removed and filled my pads.

I use a 3401 with both Hexlogic and newer Hybrid Pads. The Hexlogic orange use open cell technology thus if overloaded they will get heavier and tend to release too much product thus causing the product to be applied too thick and thus become more difficult to remove. I always use 5-6 pads for a typical sedan and feel changing them out often like that produces the best results. I do the same with my Hybrid pads even though for now I'm mainly using the polishing hybrid pads until my medium cut Hex's are in need of replacing.

If your pads are getting loaded up with contamination quickly I would have to ask what is the condition of the surface your working on. Keeping your pads clean is very important and on the trashed vehicle with massive amounts of oxidation you will go through pads much faster than normal due to all the contamination buildup. I watched a video of Kevin brown talking about pad contamination if I had the link I would post it. Outside of polisher technique I think contamination control is the most important factor in the polishing experience. We can all polish a panel with any pad or polish in the end of the day.

I just used Adapt on Sunday with a GG6 and 3" GG orange pads - also on a G15 with perfecting pad - with great success! No drying, very little dust and about 95% correction. Corrected pic is after GG6 w/3" orange pad.

Not many pics taken but you can see the etching and small swirls on the trunk lid of my 15 Fusion in Tuxedo Black.View attachment 51153
