Inside Griot's Garage

Rog, wasn't Hydro-Slickness your rock band's name?
I never thought of a name, I'm a solo artist as an air guitarist

This thread is amazing, talk of EcoBoost now. I can't get over how EcoSport is pronounced "Echo Sport" but EcoBoost is pronounced "Eeco Boost" like it's supposed to, so why doesn't the name of the little SUV pronounced like the engine that's in some of them

BlackCarBlues....well said there I read it and all I can say is that you sound like your making legit points to me.

I find it odd that 303 adds color to their spray coating whereas Adam's doesn't, they even have upgraded their graphene spray coating already

What’s funny is in the update or advanced coating from Adams it is said they added 100% more coating resin over previous version.

No increase in graphene…. . I have no problem with manufacturer’s adding graphene for advertising but also want to know for myself

New graphene products got what consumers crave.

It’s got electrolytes!

I’m constantly analyzing commercials for this sort of crap. One of the biggest marketing annoyances, yet it has been a win for the company, which speaks to dumb consumers, is Ford’s use of EcoBoost. EcoBoost is just Ford’s trademarked name for the turbocharger, which was originally patented in 1905.

At least it isn’t some random consumer product with Blue Technology or similar stupidity.

The eco boost was actually named for the line of turbo’d engines. It began as a turbo 4 to compete and eventually replace their V6 motors.

Was branded as better gas mileage with similar power output. Less green house emissions also.

So Griots wait on Ceramic was because for the longest time, all if not most chemicals were made in house. This changed when the teamed up with Cerakote to make their ceramic trim coating.

You would think this would open up the flood gates but Griots very particular about liquids.

The didn’t have a spray and wipe sealant available before C3-1. Even when these spray sealants were the it thing and they could manufacture in house they didn’t jump on that.

I just feel if they don’t adapt to new products it won’t bode well in the future.

There is the idea of the length of life of ceramics keeping people from not polishing ( more pads , polishes) and not using new products but people want to touch there paint and the topping game is

Here’s what I read…

Yada, yada, yada, yada, yada, BRANDED, yada, yada, yada.

Just kidding. I hear you but really they just pulled the wool over the consumers eyes by adding a turbo to a smaller engine, which many manufacturers have done. Ford just branded it, which other companies didn’t. Good for them. And in a sense they had to as most truck buyers up to that point wanted V8s in their full-size trucks. I say had to because they needed to improve fuel economy since they don’t sell enough cars to offset the number of trucks they sell and their overall CAFE fuel ratings.

And the 2.7L EcoBoost with a 10 speed transmission feels like it has plenty of power, even pulling a trailer full of my parent’s furniture and belongings when I’ve helped them move recently. And that is one positive with the Ford EcoBoost engines. They’ve been pretty solid with few issues and they are fairly impressive engines.

But ultimately, the main thing that makes an EcoBoost successful was patented in 1905, which is really the source of my annoyance. But most consumers don’t know about those details anymore than they know about swirls in their paint.

What is patent 1905?

I hear you but not quite the same. They still name their engines like the Coyote but EcoBoost is for those engines with a turbocharger. But hey, good on them for winning the marketing game. But I don’t have to like it. :)

 But, EcoTech is just as marketing-ey, and way less specific. Bringing this back around to the topic... marketing is what it is. Companies, no matter what they say or how they position themselves, are in business to make money. That isn’t a bad thing, as they use the money to employ people and keeping the economy going. As such, they create slogans, attractive packaging, etc. in the effort to stand out from the competition (who usually have something very compatible). I give Ford a pass, as turbocharging had become quite common by the time they rolled the name out. Not much different than Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. I am bothered more by fake scoops, vents, do-nothing aero kits, but that’s just me 😊

As a PR guy, I generally dislike being marketed to, but am also good at ignoring it. I don’t pay attention to the latest buzz words like those mentioned above – Teflon, Nano, Graphene, or things that “cheat physics” (was very disappointed when I read that). Rather, I prefer things that perform to, or better than my expectations. Not unlike most folks here, I would imagine.

I’d expect an “EcoBoost” to provide better fuel economy than a bigger engine, but will perform better than the smaller engine normally would. You answered affirmative for at least one example of the EcoBoost... Same for the Griot’s – does it work as well as they claim? I have a handful of Griot’s bottles and such in my mix and haven’t been disappointed yet – but that also applies with other brands too. I’ll find out about the 3-1 soon enough, as a one is on the way.

Wow… didn’t know a turbo was over 100 years old. Took a while for it to become the norm

Many things old are new again. The first gasoline-electric hybrid was created in 1898 (Lohner-Porsche).

back to getting this thread on topic...

Just got in some Griot’s Crinkle Glass PFM towels today. Looking forward to using them with all the great reviews they’ve gotten on AGO but alas it is raining with a high of 50 today and for the next several.

The Griot's Garage Trim and Detail spray is on par with Adam's In and Out spray. Going to have to test them side by side this spring to see which one I like better

I have the Griot's Garage glass towels and love em'!! Their small size makes getting into tight areas easy and in general, just easier to use period

Try the new krinkles. Blow the smaller older ones out the water.
