Ok so I have neglected the very lower side of my Camaro for many years (yes I'm ready for the bashing so bring it on) and have very bad tar, grime, paint, etc. on the lower panels. I have tried many different chemicals and products to strip these off but cannot win. Any suggestions?

Never tried Tarminator....what kind of sponge or rag should I use with it?

I'm with Frank. Get a can of Tarminator and some throw away terry towels. Just be sure to let the Tarminator dwell for a few minutes so it can do its job.

Cool and thanks guys I will pick some up and give it a shot.

Be careful with the film that you have. Tar-X at least says to avoid.

I'm thinking some Goo Gone, or Stoner Tarminator with throwaway towels. Just wipe it very carefully, not scrub. Follow up with APC, then wash and wax/seal.

After it's clean, you should then go sit in your room and think about what you've done, young man!

Looks like some road paint there too. That stuff is a pain. You almost have to pick it off, or let it soak forever. I think I have heard of some people using plastic razor blades to help remove them then polish after.

Mineral Spirits and a cheap MF Rag is my go-to. Works great. Then wash it off with soap and water.

Lol oh I've been thinking about what I've done the whole time. Unfortunately I didn't have a garage or the tools do do anything till we bought our house last October and I finally got to get everything out of storage. But I'll definitely keep up with it now once I get it cleaned.

Well I tried the tarminator today. It worked a little but I have some hard stuff that feels embedded into the paint. I guess once my orbital and compounds/wax get in I'll do a full blown wash/clay/correction/polish and wax....

this was after Tarminator.

So does anyone have any recommendations or samples they could send me for some polishing and buffing liquids? I've been looking at the Chemical Guys line and Maguire's.

How long did you let Tarminator dwell? May need to do repeat 2-3 times. Can also try using a plastic razor blade while Tarminator is dwelling.
Trying to buff over stuff like that will just mess up your pad.

Saturate a cotton disc with some tar remover and place it over the spot of tar. This will allow a longer contact time for the product to work. After a few mins try use the disc wipe away the dissolved tar.

I've used plastic razor blades on stuff like the OP shows in photos. Obviously, I use some discretion on which vehicles I do this on and where. But on my personal/family daily drivers in particular, I'm not afraid to get after it on the lower panels when necessary. Often its not even necessary to touch the paint with the blade (i.e. approach it with your goal being to remove 95% of the foreign material/tar speck). Get the remaining 5% with the tarminator. I might finish with a little scratchX to clean it up. I get up close, support my hand/arm on the vehicle's surface, and go slow. And since I turned 40, I use my reading glasses ;)

Has anyone tried Goo Gone for automobiles? Does it work any good?

Of these two adhesive/grime removers-- "goo gone" and "goof off" -- I've heard that one is ok to use on automotive finishes and one is definitely not safe. Does anyone know if there is truth to this? Might be something to consider.

Well they sell Goo Gone Automotive Spray Gel @Wally World, so I'd bet that's the 1. I've been thinking of picking some of it up.

That still looks to be tar, but not sure of course. Repeat with tarminator a few times when the paint is dry. You can try a stiff/coarse bug sponge to remove.
