Hey Guys,
Just posting for those who are bored and waiting for a new Show N Shine thread. Just did a paint correction / Touch up paint on an obsidian RX350. The car had deep scratches all over the car and about 30% of the car needed to be wet sanded. The guy works at a Toyota dealer and just recently got a paint correction at the dealership. He noticed that the paint was still in horrible shape after the detail so decided to call me. The correction took about 40 hours with my partner and I working together. If corrected alone, the car could have taken 60+ hours to do... The previous detailer left a lot of deep sanding marks on the edges and needed to sand the paint with my own technique to get rid of the marks without burning the paint through. Some of the scratches needed wet sanding down to 800 grit to 1000 grit. I used around 40 pads in total. For any professionals doing a lot of paint correction, please get a Scangrip. Makes life so much easier after purchasing it via autogeek.
I am still trying to learn to post images on the site but here is the link to my website if anyone wants to see it!

Thanks!

Wow...you really did hit that out of park! Awesome work...

Didn't you worry that you may burn through the clear on areas that you've wet sanded? I'll be freaking out if that were me!

Man that paint was hammered - great turn around. The owner must be thrilled. Thanks for sharing!

Very impressive work! Great job at bringing that RX back to life. Wow...

Amazing work!

I looked at the before and after pictures and it looks like someone used this RX350 as a hockey puck!

Thanks for sharing, it would be cool if there was a way to insert all those great pictures into this thread.

Hey Tom, thank you so much for your compliment! Tell you the truth, I am always on the edge when performing any type of paint correction. From using rupes/flex to wetsanding, I am constantly stressed and nervous every second of a correction! Feels like being on edge carries the correction to another level! I use a paint guage but my guage can not read paint on plastic. This is where experience comes into play but even with experience, I am still worried! Sometimes I just trust my gut and go with it!

Thanks Lawrence. I love working on hammered paint! The owner was absolutely thrilled on pick up!

Thanks Hoosier! The paint was dead and you could not even see any reflection from the paint. Hopefully the owner does not take it to the car wash again! Educated the hell out of him on how to properly maintain a black lexus!

Hey Mike!
Thank you so much for the compliment and it is a honor to be complimented from a car god like yourself! The paint surely did look like the car was being dragged in a hockey field! Glad you enjoyed it!

Thats what the owner said haha. Car had a lot of buffer trails and wet sanding marks around the edge, even next to the door jambs with a lot of pigtails!

awesome work guys!
