Have I ruined my interior with Meguiars APC?

Very good tool to use. Thank you. I forgot that the PH scale wasn't linear. So at 10:1 Meg's APC is at 11.959 on the scale.

Will bookmark this for sure ;)

This has been a great discussion. All this time I thought that Alkaline was the right fielder for the 1968 Tigers.

Most APC would need a follow wipe down with a damp mf towel not to stain when dried. Is it so that meguiars use something in the d101 that you don't have to do that?

I have bought the old formula of Ultima Interior Schampoo Gel just because it's a spray on aggitate and wipe it off on all surfaces. Know that I don't go through alot of it so for a business it's maybe not cost effective. Will be intresting to see the cleaning ability it has when tested. Have only heard great things about it and the ease of use are important for me. And maybe a pro detailer can find that value in a product too. I have another fabric and interior cleaner at hand that is very high dilution on the normal cleaning strength and also really strong cleaning ability when diluted to that strength. And you can use it in a extractor since it's a low foaming product.

Intresting how little the dilution of high based and acid concentrate does to the ph level. Thanks for shareing the link to where you can calculate it.

Just to clarify, are you talking about Optimum Power Clean which is an amazing APC/degreaser? I know Opti-Clean is a waterless wash but it works great as an interior detailer. IMO Optimum made the names of these two very different products way too similar.

You have to always rinse Optimum Power Clean, so I never use it on the interior. Opti-Clean works great as does their Leather Protectant (good for vinyl too and has UV inhibitors). The Fabric/Carpet cleaner is their best product in my opinion. Yes, all of them are named too similarly.

I'm a big proponent of "rinsing" or "neutralizing" all APC's/degreasers I use on the interior. Just because I don't know of any APC's that are actually pH neutral.

One thing I've always liked about Optimum is how upfront they are when talking about needing to use a damp cloth or ONR to neutralize the alkalinity after cleaning interior surfaces with OPC.

I don't know how effective wiping down the surface with a damp cloth would be at "Neutralizing" an APC's alkaline level. If diluting it 10 to 1 reduces it from 13 to 11... how helpful would it be to do a wipe down? You would remove most of it, but what remains would be just as alkaline.

I think it's a good idea to do it, don't get me wrong, but I would not call it Neutralizing.

Do you know the how alkaline OPC is? I have never used the stuff. I do like ONR but since Meg's 103 has always done a great job for me, and I still have plenty of concentrate left, I never saw a reason to try anything else. When my reserve is gone, I might switch to Tide laundry detergent. I have seen a couple of video about using it as an APC and it did a very good job. It smell a lot nicer than any APC I have ever used, it's not alkaline as far as I know, and it costs less than Megs' products because I don't have to pay a fortune for shipping from Florida to Quebec. So I will definatelly give it a try and if I don't like it I can use it to wash microfiber towels ;)

I found something on the Optimum website that says that OPC has a pH of around 11. Diluted 10:1 brings it down to 9.959.

In my pH testing, OPC is closer to 12.

The MSDS shows an approximate value of 11 so that could be anywhere between 11 and 12.
