Happy New Years everyone! Let 2019 be happy and successful!

So to close out 2018 I had the pleasure of heading out to my buddies shop to perform and coating maintenance service and interior detail. This F350 platinum I coated exactly a year ago and although he has washed it and kept up with it it was definitely in need of some decontamination.

And it just so happens I had Meguiars new iron decon waiting to be used.

First off I cleaned up the wheels and tires with my normal combo of Mckees foaming wheel cleaner gel and LATA.

Then I foamed it with Hyper dressing and gave it a thorough wash before rinsing it off. The instructions on the Meguiars Iron Decon says to use on a dry surface so I went ahead and dried off the vehicle. Now if it wasn't so dirty I would have skipped the initial wash but I wanted to remove all the surface grime first.

Next I loaded up some of the Meguiars Iron Decon in a cheep pump sprayer and began spraying.

No lie within seconds of it coming into contact it began working and working very well!

After letting it dwell I rinsed off the exterior with my pressure washer and it had removed the iron deposits without issues!

Next I continued my decon process with a light clay process with nanoskin fine grade towel and water spot removal with IGL Delete.

Paint was topped with IGL Premier as was the glass and trim.

Back to looking fresh!

Overall impressions of the Meguiars Iron Decon is that they did a great job and at a great price point.

Nice work and looks as if it performs well! Thanks for posting!

How would describe the viscosity of their iron remover? Looks like it really held on!

Not super watery but not really thick. It's actually right in the middle. Thin enough that it sprayed out nicely but thick enough to cling.

Thanks bud. Have to give credit. They did a great job with it.

Thanks for sharing Justin! I am ready to order some more iron remover, no I have to give this a shot!

Absolutely. Let us know how it goes!

Nice work and write up!

Looks like it been driven here in Sweden LOL. Nice when an iron remover only needs to be PW rinsed off. Will be intresting to see what the price will be here in Sweden of the D180. If they are going to be offering it here. But the strong dollar to the swedish Krona I think they are not going to take this in. With a good sale you get a great price on it.

Like every other iron remover lol. At this point it doesn't bother me anymore lol

Thanks for the reply!

Would you say the smell is better or worse than Iron X or Sonax Full Effect? I still can't used to smell of these products.

How would you rate the Meguiars D1801 against other iron remover, at decon?

I may have to pick up a gallon thanks for the review.

Probably about the same maybe a bit less

Justin, how does this compare to McKee’s Iron remover?

I'll say that Meg's isn't watery by any means. It's fairly thick, but not tooooooooooo thick like some others.

When Meguiars puts a new product in their line, it's always top notch at a good price point. Thanks for sharing this, I will have to give it a try. So far I have not been able to find anything that competes with Iron-X, I have high hopes for Meg's Iron Decon!

Now if they could just stop staying on the sidelines and put a Paint Coating in their lineup already ;)

Meguiars M188 Deep Crystal Coating! 18months durability or 260 washes. 1 coat and done. Have been available in the EU and Asia for some years now. Don't understand why it's not released in the US...

Ya... 18 months is just not good enough though. They are probably working on a longer duration coating. I know Meguiars usually take their time to formulate products and test them before releasing them. Anything under 2 years is just not durable enough as a coating when you have great options like McKee's and Gtechnics at 3 years or more. McKee's right now has not direct competitors at their price point. And for single layer products, I feel that Gtechnic Crystal Serum Light also have no competitiors at their price point. I am watching carefully the 34 way test being done that includes all the IGL, Kenzo and CarPro coatings.

I would not install CarPro because of the need for multiple layers. I will look into IGL and Kenzo if they prove really durable. It would depend how expensive they are and how easy/hard they are to install. Right now I am very happy with the 2 products I offer but sometimes people want specific brands.
