Hello Autogeek Online Family. :xyxthumbs:

This past weekend there was an event held in my home town I guess you could liken it to the ‘Cars & Coffee’ style gathering of vehicles. Although there is great success for annual charity car displays & the likes locally, there hasn’t been the same success for a more frequent get together.

I think this is partly due to timing of such events but this time I think the organisers have it dialed in. 8am to 11am on the first Sunday of every month.

Talking with the organiser prior to the day (bear in mind that my town has a population of around 30,000) he was going to be happy with a minimum of 25 cars & over the moon with 40. By 11am there was 105 cars & about 8 bikes & everyone was having a blast. Great walking around & talking cars . . . Car care, & life in general. :dblthumb2:

We got involved with putting together a prize pack (which I was given the duty of choosing who received it) from the shop & promotion via our Facebook page.

All in all I think this was a great event, even if it wasn’t the first one there was plenty to see & lots of folks to talk with. I’m pretty confident the numbers will grow by double by Month 3. I’ll leave you guys with a few pictures of the day, enjoy.

The prize pack I put together. :xyxthumbs:

Thank you Klasse Act. :xyxthumbs:

Yeah, that Sierra Cosworth was a smart car. In my younger days I took care of two identical 'MoonstoneBlue' Cosworths both owned by the same guy . . . at the same time. Awesome cars.

The Rotary scene here in New Zealand is massive. I myself have had a few, even built a '73 RX3 Coupe many years ago & won 27 trophies at shows with that car. Never trailered it, always drove it like it was stolen. (as you should with a Rotary) There is a big Rotary meet coming up in the diary here too - RE-union is a great event & normally attracts a good couple of hundred cars.

The blue 808/RX3 wagon in the pictures is in the diary for detailing for this event too. Also quite a special car in NZ. Not sure how many folks here will have heard of Mike Whiddett or 'Mad Mike Whiddett' he's right up there in the sport of drifting & this car was his street car (skid car) back in the early days before drifting took off. A local guy came across the car in a far different state . . . found out it used to belong to Mad Mike & set about rebuilding it exactly the same as Mike had it in the early 90's.

Appreciate you comments my friend.

Thank you Tony.:xyxthumbs:

For sure, I think next time with 'word of mouth' & a little elevated advertising the turn out will be far better.

That truck! Yeah, I love that truck. This thing was built by a local custom car/hotrod builder & the history behind it is just as cool as the look of it. It started life as three sheets of steel. It was nothing before, not a restoration of anything just its own thing. Simply known as 'The Green Truck' & I admire it everytime I see it.

Thanks buddy! :xyxthumbs:

Klasse Act has touched on this too - it’s a Holden Kingswood. Pretty sweet one at that to be honest.

The Kingswood name was also put on Chevy station wagons here, our neighbor growing up had a 1970 Impala Kingswood, it was blue with the faux wood trim.

Nice turnout Aaryn! Some cool stuff there and kudos to you for getting involved in this! I'm sure it will get pretty large attendance numbers once the word gets out!

Cheers buddy. :xyxthumbs:

It actually was. I narrowed it down to two after a while & the other car only got pipped out because we found some minor . . . very minor swirls but overall the standards were pretty good. Thanks for the comments mate.

Sweet pics Aaryn!

Looks like it was an awesome time. :props:

Thank you Paul. :xyxthumbs:

Indeed it was. A nice way to kick off a Sunday & still have most of the day left to do other stuff too. A great turn out for a first go . . . expecting a few more for the next. :dblthumb2:

Thank you Scott. :xyxthumbs:

For a little country we sure have some weird & wonderful cars that can emerge out of the woodwork for things like this. Attendance was pretty good, especially seeing as it was the first one & its exciting that it has been well received. :xyxthumbs:

To be honest Scott, I wish I could get more involved. I would like to help out a bit more & perhaps in the future I can free up some time. The prize pack was greatly appreciated & I'm gonna shamelessly plug CarPro here - I spoke to my CarPro NZ guy about the event & he sent diwn o er $600 worth of CarPro products to give away!!! :props:

Thanks for chimming in my friend, much appreciated.
