What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Agreed! Back in 2008 I worked with a retiree that had two C5s. His 97 had 320k-ish miles at the time, and his 04 had 125k-ish miles on it. He and his son drove them all over the continent (the 04 went to Alaska via Canada). I didn’t believe him on the miles on his 1997, so he brought it to work one day and made me verify it myself. Both were year round daily drivers with extra wheels/snow tires. He ended up giving that 97 to his daughter to drive.

Awesome story to hear

Did he mention how reliable they were over that time and what kind of preventive maintence he did

So I took my g/f's Cruze to the touch-free wash and when I came back I cleaned all glass, inside and out with TW glass cleaner. Next up was to wipedown the interior bits w/ ADS Pilot interior detailer and let me say this...best interior detailer I've used so far!! Once you wipe it just finishes out quickly, smells great and leaves behind a natrual finish

So these touch-free washes sometimes only "skim the surface", leave a light film, this was the case today but I reached for ADS Adapt to go around the whole car, even though it was mainly the roof with the film. This ADS Adapt is different as you spray it into you towel and THEN clean the area, buff with 2nd towel, came out great, did the whole car. While I was at it I wiped the wheels down and door jams with it too

I finished with a single coat of ADS Ghost to her tires and I was done

Tires, brakes, belts and fluids (obviously) is all I remember. But certainly nothing major, all regular stuff. Have not seen him since 2009 or so. Nice guy though.

This weekend involved about 350 miles of travels between Cbus, Oxford and Cinci area for family weekend with my daughter at Miami University.

Took today today rinse off the bugs and get her ready for another 500 miles of travel I have this week across northern Indiana.

Pilot is one of my favorites from the brand, and easily my favorite interior detailer. I think it just nails every criteria. If was to critique it, the only thing I would want would be for the scent to linger a little longer. Apart from that, its perfection.

Packaged up some coatings, does that count ?

The shiny golden bottles caught my eye, somewhat akin to beading?

I was going to take the little car through the tunnel wash before I changed the tires/wheels but it’s raining so that was pointless

I decided to go ahead and do a rinseless so I got 2 gallons of ADS Hero mixed at 256:1 with my McKees golden sponge and 1 gallon at 128:1 in my garden sprayer

The car was dirty, not too dirty for a safe rinseless, but not just light dust, as it had been driven in the rain

After a prespray I hit the roof and everything was fine but when I tackled the rear end the Hero just wasn’t up to the task. The prespray hadn’t loosened anything, which has been my experience when I tried it before, and I felt like it was struggling even with the sponge. I left the rear alone and tried a door and the same thing; the prespray hadn’t done anything and the sponge was struggling as well. I soaked a plush microfiber and even that felt horrible.

I dumped both the bucket and the garden sprayer and mixed fresh original N914 and washed the car with no further drama

I dried the car with Megs Hybrid Ceramic Detailer

I was just getting to the wheels when the boss popped her head in the garage to remind she had an appointment

I’ll get to them when I get back home

I’m going to catch crap for this but in my world Hero is pointless unless a car just has loose dust on it. I feel it has very little actual cleaning power and the lubricity is meh.

I am half way through the first pint bottle and I have given it a fair shake but I have no room on my shelf for a product that will only clean an already almost clean car

Let the hate begin

Your experience is real world Chilly and I encourage you to email Bradley at ADS, it's the regular contact info. Explain your situation as well as both bucket dilution and garden sprayer dilution, he welcomes feedback. From my half dozen emails to and from each other this guy cares about his products, you might inspire a new, HD RW from ADS, he might even call it ADS Chilly

I will do that

It’s certainly not something I would want to leave a review on without first talking to them and giving them a chance to talk it through with me

Thanks Klasse

Great and seriously, you never know What's your current LSP and how dirty was it?

LSP is Megs Hybrid Ceramic Wax

It wasn't muddy but it did have road spray dirt from being driven in the rain

This is a picture from a while back and it wasn't quite this bad, but close

The N-914 cut right through it, this time and the time I took this photo

I did a side by side with Hero and N-914 on the day I took the photo and N-914 kicked its @ss that day as well

From Big Dave in the super sunny land down under.

I gave the FJ a 2B wash with Reset today. No pre-foam as it was basically clean, but the black trim hasn't been cleaned for a while, and I'm going to apply something new this afternoon, I got some 303 Graphene Trim Coating at a 30% off sale. So I pre-rinsed, moved it inside to wash it, then back out to rinse again, and back in to dry it. No drying aid, other than Carpro Clarify Phobic in the glass, as I didn't want anything on the trim. I'll be wiping the trim down with Eraser shortly.

Big Dave again

I got the 303 Graphene Trim Coating applied before stopping for dinner. Looks good, a little bit of effort required, the textured trim doesn't make it easy. It says to dry it with a clean MF, when you wipe it the sheen disappears, but reappears within a couple minutes. I've put reminders in my calendar to check it after 3 & 6 months.

Obligatory half and half shot.

So I emailed Bradley and literally within minutes I got a very polite and personal reply

ADS is very interested in making this right and making me happy so huge kudos for that

I have a dialogue going and I have no doubt things will work out in the end

That in itself goes a long long way in providing customer satisfaction

I should note that ADS, by accounts, was dragged kicking and screaming into the rinseless market, one that Bradley didn't see the point of, initially.

I guess by way of due diligence, I think it was EC Details in his review of Hero, recounting his discussions and beta testing, that mentioned that ADS initially wasn't interested in making a rinseless product.
