What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Armor All extreme shine.
I don't like that look personally. Looks ghetto imo
I was thinking 10W-30!

I finally vacuumed the interior and did a wipe down with Griot's Interior Detailer. Given it was just below 50, it does not evaporate very quickly. I still need to do a garage rinseless wash and do the glass. Given temps ahead, it will not be for a week.

I also need to replace the pump seals on my Krazel now that the rebuild kit came in.

I've found the 10-speed in my new Mustang to be calibrated pretty well. You do get an impression of it always shifting in Normal mode, and a little slow to kick down. In Sport and Track modes, it seems to shift more logically and offers quicker response to the throttle, nor does it labor the engine by selecting the highest possible gear at any given speed. While the actual shift speed is decent in Sport/Track, I would prefer it to respond quicker to manual inputs, especially when you have so many gears to get through. Oh, and I would like the option to have a current gear displayed on the cluster, this only happens in manual mode. But overall, its been much better than I was expecting, and those rev-matched downshifts are epic.

The 10-speed in the Ranger is a different story. On the previous model, I really don't like how it gear skips, it makes for a less refined driving experience as it labors the engine too much. It's also woefully slow to manual inputs by that stupid rocker switch on the gear shifter. I really don't know why they went with that layout, models fitted with the 6-speed auto had a manual mode using the gear lever in the correct orientation, push forward for a downshift and pull back for an upshift.

On the current Ranger, they seemed to have reverted back to sequential shifting, as in not skipping gears. To me, this is more natural feeling as it doesn't labor the engine as much going from, say, 3rd to 5th. I will say, both previous and current gen Ranger, you can toggle the manual shifter without selecting manual mode, this will initiate a current gear position on the cluster.

Overall, I just wish Ford would stop being so conservative with shift response in manual mode on these transmissions. As I said, the actual shift speed is very good, but they take forever to respond.
💯 correct on all accounts.

The Kenworth I drive skip shifts and it's annoying as well, but it's tolerable. The worst part about it, is the engine brake. If I have it set to medium it will always drop down a gear as soon as I let go of the accelerator. If I have it on max, I'm feel like I'm gonna go through the window when it drops 2 gears.. it becomes a game of feathering the throttle.

Years ago, they said they couldn't put an automatic in a semi truck due to the size of the synchronizer it would take. I guess someone figured it out because every new truck that comes out is an automatic 12 speed.

I'm not a fan either Al, but most customers love shiny tires
If that's what they want, that's what they get 🤷

Did a little clean and protect on the Tacoma.
All done inside the garage due to single digit temps.

Did a rinseless wash with Feynlab rinseless. First time using that wash. What struck me right off was how slick it was. Was very noticeable. Cant comment on how good it cleaned as the truck wasnt very dirty.

Did an exterior wipe down with panel prep.

Then applied Jescar Powerlock to the exterior.

After a 3 hour cure time i topped the sealer with Optimum Car Wax.

Dressed the tires with Superior Aqua Gloss and applied Seal and Shine to the wheels.

Should be good for a couple months on the sealer and will use a drying aid after future washes.

How did your rinse bucket look afterwards

On a rare occasion I didn't use a rinse bucket as the truck really wasn't very dirty. The wash wasn't very dirty afterwards but did have some dirt in it as I used it to wash the wheels and tires which is where most of the dirt was.

After a weekend of helping customers I decided to give my car some TLC inside and out. Cleaned the interior with DIY Rinseless and followed with Perl for protection and a nice satin finish. Garage wash with DIY Rinseless and ADS ceramic sealant as a drying aid to see if it’s all it’s cracked up to be. Went on easy with no streaking and this will give me a sacrificial layer of protection as I drive around another week of brine covered roads. Slapped a couple of coats of Perl on the tires and I should be good for a week before I need to wash again and remove a layer of salt and slush.

Optimus, I'm sorry I make non-detailing observations when people put up their detailing pictures, but that's a pretty nice fridge for a garage, how did that happen? And I'm always amused that you folks in the warmer climes have the water heater in the garage.

That’s the original fridge. My wife wanted a unit with the freezer at the bottom so last year we got a new fridge in the house and moved this one to the garage where it’s our overflow fridge and my ceramic coating storage.

Gotta love bottom freezers! My basement fridge is a bit more of an econo model, but I did sneak a couple bottles of coating into the (top) freezer recently. That water/ice dispenser must come in handy in the garage during the summer.

I've got an econo model refrigerator in my basement and a smaller chest freezer. Both no frills. That's the way to go. On appliances the fancier they are the more things there are to fail. I've replaced the circuit board on the fridge in my kitchen and some kind of water valve when the ice maker stopped making ice.

Unfortunately the water is not connected to the fridge. I may look into that because polishing in 90+ weather in a garage is an akin to working in a sauna.

flash how about the old brake fluid trick?
Works great until you hit a dusty road 😁
Had a old timer show me the sugar and water trick once. Kinda left a matte finish

I had a neighbor who used to apply baby oil to his oxidized paint
Look wonderful from 15' away

People and their cars...

There was an old guy who lived in our street who liked to clean his car with Mr Sheen, it was a furniture and household cleaner. Maybe the original spray and wax product.

Not quite Mr. Sheen but when I lived with my dad I had to wash his truck with whatever cleaning supplies were around which tended to be an old bath towel and a capful of Tide. It sometimes left a little residue on the surface but he had the only truck in town that smelled like fresh lilac.

Wash time for the FJ today. I started with Wheely Clean on the wheels, now that I've got the alloys back on I can actually see it working. Next was a 2B wash with Reset, foam wasn't going to work this time, whatever was on the paint hadn't been removed by 4 inches rain last week, so a contact wash was required, the rinse bucket caught plenty of dirt, mostly from the wheel wells. After rinse off I moved it back inside for drying. I did the windows first with Clarify Phobic, glass has to be first as it dries and waterspots so fast at the moment. Dried the paint with the assistance of Ech2o. Rain and storms predicted tonight, but that wasn't going to stop me.
