Here's the update. The first soak/wash (DP orange/ CG micro soap) did very little if anything. The second (sal suds/micro restore) made the least used towels hold some water, although reluctantly, and a lot just ran off. The third, (dawn/CG micro soap plus dawn) made the best towels like new, and the worst almost like new. All soaking/washing was done in hot water.
So I'm very relieved that I finally got my micro's back, and I've begun doing all my older towels that I had put away when the new ones arrive about a month ago, with a soak/wash with dawn/sal suds mixture. Which is actually how I've been doing my WGDGPS impregnated autogeek foam pads that I like so much. I would have gone straight to that from the beginning but I didn't know if the dawn would cause a problem with MF.
I cant really say if one method worked best or if it was just a process of repeated washings that did it a bit at a time, although I do think that dawn was the strongest of them all, which has been my experience with cleaning the sealant out of those foam pads.
So many thanks to everyone (like rsurfer who let me know I could safely wash in dawn) and to 07 zoh-6, I'll be trying simple green after my next waxing and we'll see how it goes. :xyxthumbs:
