What happened to Autopia forums?

I just peeked over there and was reading the "We're Back and Better Than Ever" or whatever it was called. Seemed no one was mincing words (management included).

I dunno...I've lost that loving feeling. Just kind of feels like getting cheated on and you don't ever feel the same way again.

Frankly, the smart thing to do when new owners take over a successful website is to try and make the switch over as seamless and unnoticeable as possible. Nothing could be further from that here. Going to "Autopia Version 2.0" was (and is) a horrible decision, and as it turns out, just the beginning.

The site is still not completely fixed either. I don't get any email alerts to subscribed threads.

I disagree..it was seamless and unnoticeable...for 7 months or so after they bought it, while they still had DavidB running it. Then he disappeared and it's been like no one is home since then.

If there's been one thing I've learned about this crazy virtual world, is, if you have a problem, you have to be on it instantly and over-fix it. That goes for product/shopping problems and forum problems, because they are inevitably intertwined. If you have a store problem, it will wind up on the forums, and you'd better handle it quick or everybody and his brother will be on it. If you have a forum problem, you'd better handle it quick, or it will wind up on a bunch of other forums...

The change over to the new forum is what killed the place for me. They had all kinds of issues and didn't really seem to want to correct them.

I would be scared to buy anything from their store if its ran like the forum is...
 
they need to bring DavidB back (he was pretty active), he would of been on that virus/hack issue immediately. no matter what though, IMO it's always going to be his board despite being sold...
 
Sorta like the Old Coke and New Coke discussion. If you liked the old, you will not likely like the new one.

Yes, you are absolutely 100% correct about that. My bad for not mentioning that part of it.

visited the site and had no problems or pop-up warnings. glad to see it back in action!! got to check up on the the many threads/write-ups i missed...

I wouldn't get too excited. I'm not. The site is safe, but it sure isn't working as it should be.

People are not receiving email updates to subscribed threads.

This is another example of their incompetence. They have been working on *that* issue for three days now, with no success. :rolleyes:

But "late" has not happened yet since it has not been fixed, so as far as we know, it could still be "never".

don't know what more to tell you, if you don't want to visit the site at all or anytime soon (until it's "completely" resolved), then don't...

I don't know why you are so willing to give these guys a pass on this.

It's ridiculous.

I am more than willing to go back and start posting there. In fact, I have already made posts over there since they have been back up.

But these new owners are complete boobs when it comes to having a clue about how to run, or fix, an internet forum.

Read the shoutbox. They said that they were going to be looking into the email notification/subscription issues several days ago. So far, nothing, nada, zip, zilch. No communication telling us what the problem is, or that they are still working on it, or that they have given up, or an admission that they really have no clue what they are doing.

You know very well that I like the people who post there. I simply don't have much respect for the people who are running it.

There was a thread about that in which they responded today (or maybe yesterday, because this would be the first time I've ever seen admin post on a weekend) that it was fixed.


You know very well that I like the people who post there.

I actually don't mind that fact that the Autopia bullies either don't come here or have been kicked off here, from what I can see.
