Ok I'm looking for an all around wheel and tire cleaner thats safe on all wheels and isn't very expensive either. That rules Sonax out of the way because it is roughly $100 for 1.5 gallons. So what do you guys suggest for wheels and tires?

Is it very effective, and do you run it straight or dilute it?

Does Griot's work well on tires too, or should I get some APC with it?

I've been using "SuperClean" for a year or two now. 1 gallon costs $15 and as long as you don't let it dry on the rims it wont damage them. You can also use this stuff to remove bugs but it takes the wax off too. Its really powerful even diluted. I dilute it 1 part cleaner to 5 parts water, spray it on the wheels, agitate with a soft paint brush and rinse off. It has never failed to leave behind a flawless wheel.

Good luck!

Wow. Stuff is way more expensive in Cali. Super clean is only $7 or $8 here in Indiana.

I use:

Meguiar's Brightener

"Meguiar’s Wheel Brightener is a super concentrated wheel cleaner for clear coated, factory painted, and chrome wheels. It easily removes brake dust, tar, dirt, and grime with little or no scrubbing. With a dilution ratio of up to 4:1, Wheel Brightener is an easy choice for cost-conscious detailers. You can get sixteen 32 ounce bottles of wheel cleaner out of one gallon of Wheel Brightener!"

Amazing Roll-Off

Try Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner, very sticky like P21S Gel and very effective. Don't forget that you can always pick up a gallon of Optimum Power Clean, it's safe for paint and if you go 3:1 it works out to $12/gal.

Oooohhhhh! I think I just found my next wheel cleaner! Richard, this stuff works really good? You used it?

For your dollar DG offers some excellent and highly functional products so I assume this is no different. Great products for a great price! I didn't know they had a wheel cleaner. Thank you

Good point on the Optimum as well.

ONR works really well on tires. Spray it on and wipe off with mf towel, baked on brake dust then agitate. Its rare I will use simple green or apc. I will use ipa if I am going to add sealant afterwards.

APC is needed for tires.

Is wheel brightener safe on any wheels though?

Wheel brightener has been used on many finishes without damage, and will eat through the toughest brake dust you've ever seen. However, it is fairly caustic and I don't think it's biodegradable.

Amazing Roll-off or Griot's would get my vote as they specifically state they are safe for all wheels and boidegradable. Cheap to boot, too.

Based off of the old bottle that I acquired from a local NAPA auto parts store, I thought it was a very good wheel cleaner. I didn't leave it on like P21S. I think maybe 5 minutes at the most and it was very effective. The bottle I picked up was shaped just like most of the Wolfgang bottles except it was clear. All the pictures I have found of this stuff show black bottles like Aqua Wax. So I plan to order a brand new bottle and write a review. I just ordered a gallon of Power Clean for a repeat customer this weekend, engine clean up and a quick wash and re-seal the front clip, Duragloss Rain Repel for the glass.

rwright would you suggest Griot's or Duragloss?

Honestly I haven't used Griot's, but Corey has. :o Some wheel cleaners that I have found effective that won't break the bank:

Meguiar's All Wheel Cleaner - pink/purple bottle
Mothers Foaming All Wheel Cleaner
Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner

A little more expensive, DP Wheel Cleaner.

With the promotion matching, you can get the Duragloss very cheap and I highly doubt you will be disappointed. In fact, you should pick up both Duragloss and Griot's and write a review for us!
