If you've ever bought an OTC product, you're not a pro by definition :)

LOL - I do use some OTCs - but I can guarantee you that I am professional.... high price doesn't always mean better quality *experience talkin here* (only 13 years though, so maybe Im wrong lol)!!!

I never actually thought about it. But, I've been detailing for about 10 years, and I actually never have bought an OTC product. I think I bought some wax when I was like 15 years old, ha.

I actually think that's kinda strange cause I live within a half mile of an Advanced Auto to my right, and a VIP to my left. Oh well! I've always had my Malco distributor for as long as I can remember. He's the reason why! Not complaining, I love their stuff. :dblthumb2:

Com 'on think man - never for carpets??? Window cleaning???? Tire dressing??? - Nothing?!?!?!? I buy 95% of my stuff online or from a local chemical distributor, but to say I never buy OTC would be a wrong!

I'm dead serious. I've never bought products. I did buy a 6 pack of microfibers once, cause my towel guy hadn't brought me my fresh load yet. I think I also bought a rim brush cause mine snapped once. That's it. I know for a fact I've never bought any actual product though. No wax, sealant, compound, window cleaner...nothin. Strange...I know. lol

My favorite carpet product over any industrial product that I have ever used was the Woolite/Oxy Stain remover - better than anything else I have ever used - and it is OTC all the way. Maybe I consider 91% ISO ALC an OTC too - and maybe Spray Away Glass Cleaner from Sams (good for plastics). Would these be considered OTC?

Well, alcohol is an OTC...but where else would you really get it? That's a loop hole, ha. Oxy is OTC, and SprayWay glass cleaner is OTC. But, sprayway works really well. I used to use it before I got sick of throwing out cans all the time, lol. Strangely enough though, I got it through my distributor. Always thought that was odd.

It doesn't matter anyways. OTC products don't make you unprofessional by any means. It would be dumb to think that all OTC products don't work! I think my main reason is that I just find them to be pricey compared to my distributor who I get wholesale prices with. That's my main reason I think.

Plus, couldn't you even say that Meguiars is an OTC product? Ewwwwww that's gonna make somebody mad! lol :bolt:

I buy sand paper, all purpose mf towels (costco), most of my duragloss products, tire dressing applicators, and some meguiars products OTC. for some reason people think if it doesn't come from Autogeek then it isn't any good. News flash, there are a ton of OTC products that are awesome, and AG actually carries many products that are available OTC.

Interesting thread. I thought more pro's would respond to put their name out there.

Sent using Tapatalk not at work or driving, but from my phone because I can.

Yep, I don't go to Costco often, but Mrs. Spicy knows to pick up a bag or two everytime she is there. They were on sale once ( I think like $2 off per bag) and I bought all 10 bags they had. You just can beat having a decent microfiber for that price.

I know I am a big Pakshak supporter, but in a pinch (on the road, at a car show) I have used these MF's lightly and gingerly with QD to remove bird droppings or other contaminants, with no micro marring induced. I'm not saying I would use them all the time on paint, but they aren't the swirl inducing monsters that lots of people make them out to be. They are all I use for wheels, doorjams, engine bays, and interiors.

I have two black vehicles and detail several black vehicles, I have no problem using these towels to remove polishes and waxes with, just like any other MF towel, you need to make sure they are clean and use some care in wiping.

:iagree:I use Sam's MF on my black Subaru WRX with super soft paint and they haven't left any marring yet.

I have only been here for a very short time but, imo, There are quite a few members who do make a living off of detailing on here. These members are also not afraid to give anybody advice or tips. We are all here for the same reason.

Thanks for the feedback Geekers!
I detail partime in season. Which boils down to almost 40 hours a week. I also work a fulltime job. In season I can do really well.
But I was told if I get paid to provide a service, then I to am a professional.
I also try to get on AG everyday,I learn alot here.
