Most APCs contain caustic soda or caustic potash. Caustics are also used in paint removers so at high enough concentration, they can not only damage uncoated (tanned) leather, but also they can damage coated leather as well. However, Optimum Power Clean does not contain any caustics and that is why it is safe to use on coated as well as tanned leather.
Besides price can someone tell me what's different about these?
I love my OPC but thinking the megs might be a little more cost effective. Thanks in advance.
I lifted this quote from a post David G. (Dr. G) from Optimum made in the APC/Leather thread regarding OPC:
In looking at the MSDS for APC+, it contains:
Sodium Dodecylbeneze Sulfonate
Silicic Acid, Disodium Salt
Tetrasodium Salt EDTA
I'm assuming these are the type of "caustics" being referred to that are not in OPC, but I don't see an MSDS sheet available to compare.
I put MSDS sheets on the Optimum forums download section a few months ago if you guys ever need them.

Opt PC also contains these ingredients.
:righton:As far as APCs go, I've never used another(tried dozens too) that is so versatile as OPC. It's the jack of all trades and the master of all. And.....it's safe on leather!!
