What do you guys think? I found an used Makita for 100 locally and wanted to know if it was a good deal. And what bp would most of you guys work with? 5 inch?

The question is, how used is it? I wouldn't want to buy one and find out it's on its death bed or in need of significant repairs.

If it were me, I'd just save up a bit more and buy a new one when you can afford it.

You can't kill a Makita. I use mine underwater...just to prove a point sometimes, ha. :buffing:

I heard the same thing makita go for a long time. If you can negotiate for a little less than would be good. I say go for it. Do 2 to 3 jobs with it and you got to buy a new one. If not you can always put money to the side until whenever it die. B-D

I know Anthony is a big Makita man. Maybe he can back it up as well.

I'm trying to save as much money as I can get. I'm also trying to get a used Mytee, what do you guys think about Mytee?

I paid $100 for mine about a month ago. Mine was mint and operates mint. Smooth, quiet and powerful. I love it!!!

Bought my makita at a pawn shop a couple of years ago for under $75.00 and its done a fine job. :props:

What size backing plate do you guys most use on Makita? And what pads to buy?

Do you use use 5.5 inch pads or go big and use 7-8 inch pads?

Anyone? I want to put an order soon and need some advice with the best pad combo for Makita.

What size pads are you using/do you already have for your DA? At least I'm assuming you already have a DA and pads....

I would stick with the pad size you've got and just pick up a backing plate to match. At least to start with, anyway.

I like using 6.5 inch and 4 inch pads on my makita! I know 4 inch may sound silly but it sure help alot ib tight and small areas! In my opinion 8 inch pads are only foor roofs big trunks and big hoods. Go for 6.5!

I agree. Stick with what works for you. The only exception is for large flat areas the makita has no trouble with the larger 6 in pads where most shy away from them on a da.

I always use the bigger pads. Believe they may be 8". I've never actually tried smaller pads. I guess I just like the bigger ones. They work for me really well.

What do you do on smaller areas where you can't get an 8in pad? Just do it by hand? Just curious...I have 8", 6.5" and 4" pads. I don't have a backing plate for my Flex for the 4" pads...yet. lol

FYI - Used the new flex today on my sister's truck...It's a sweet machine. Nice and quiet too. :props:
