2005 Passat: MF D300 Paint correction and interior detail

This car belongs to a long time client of mine. It's his daily driver, it's never been hand washed by him, and it only see's touch-less or tunnel washes. It was last detailed by me in Dec '08....needless to say it was overdue for a clean up.

Paint correction Process:
-D300 MF compound via PCXP 5" MF pads
-M205 via rotary and LC cyan foam pad
-Wet sanding was done with 3" disks 1000/2000/4000

Paint Protection:
-Blackfire Wet-Diamond

Interior Process:
-Carpets/mats cleaned with Folex and the LGM. Some areas pre-treated with 303 fabric cleaner
-Vinyl and dash cleaned with OPC and/or Einszitt Cockpit Premium
-Leather cleaned with OCP and Leather Masters

What I had to work with....

Backing plate/interface pad ( interface was not really needed with the Abralon disks)

3" disk

Sanded down and feathered out
20110224-_MG_4231.jpg

Paint condition....swirls and lots of deep RIDS

Some 50/50 shots after the D300 only
20110226-_MG_4239.jpg

D300 finished down well...only a light haze remained

Thanks for looking,
Rasky

I can never understand how people can let there interiors get that bad. Great save, interior before and afters were nothing short of impressive.

What were those 2 little switches on the center console hooked up to?

Awesome save!!! :dblthumb2:
I am always amazed how poorly people treat there vehicles!! I guess if everyone kept their cars in "good" condition, there would be nothing for us (detailers) to do. :props:

Wanna know that also, caught my eye too!

Hard to argue with the results of the D300 doing its thing. Great job onhe car, and you really turned that interior around.

That interior was pretty nasty and gotta love drunk girls! Nice save!

I'm guessing it's for audio/video having to do with the DVD player and screens in the headrest. Maybe a switch for an FM transmitter.

I see what looks like a DVD player mounted on the driver side. I also see some wires coming out of the center console and going into the passenger seat.

Thanks Guys!

The switches control what's playing on the front two monitors (not shown). One changes the upper screen from DVD to rear camera and the other changes the lower monitor from Nav to DVD. I think the rear monitors always play DVD. ;)

Outstanding work as usual! To be honest with you, I don't think you ever need to provide sun shots. You have quite the reputation for impeccable work. :props:

Looks awesome as usual, Rasky.

Do you find that the Mirka finishing discs give better results than the Meguiar's? I've only ever used the Unigrit stuff but they finish out at 3000 grit, I'm kind of wondering if it would be worth it to pick up some of the 4000 grit Abralon discs to have on hand as well.

Thanks guys

Thanks Charlie!

Both work well but I think I'll probably stick with Meguiar's /3M disks on my next order. The 3000 is more than fine and should buff out with ease.

Looks awesome Chad I wouldn't know where to start on that car .

Wow, nice work, and great application of the new MF system.

You use an extractor on the interior?

Fair enough, the 3000 usually does buff out alright so if the 4000 doesn't offer a huge advantage, I won't bother with them. :dblthumb2:

Same here. I thought maybe they would be aftermarket lights of some kind.

Car came out great! I love using those sanding discs for scuffed areas like that as well. Does a nice even job. :props:

What a recovery! Apparently nothing has been done to that car since Dec. 2008 except to put fuel in it.
