What in the world happened to this!! And for the smart a$$e$, yes I know it fell apart. This is the first time I am using the system other than a test run I did a few weeks back which was just on a small hood.

I am halfway through with the car. I was blowing the pad off after my section and the pad ripped apart and flew at my chest. Thank god it didn't hit my face!! The pad has been washed once since I got it in a HE front load washer (after the hood). I noticed the pad was warm after it fell apart.

I'm using a GG on speed 4.

Any help or advice is appreciated! I'm going to call Meguiars tomorrow. I guess I would have expected this to last more than one car!

That sucks! Sorry to hear that your new pad fell apart. Do you use the Meguiar's backing plate? That's really the only thing I can think of, sorry I can't think of anything else.

I keep having that happen to me on LC orange pads. I think its the heat. Not sure though.

I was just going to order some of those, but I noticed they are out of stock.

Thanks for your sympathies!! I bought the whole MF kit and got the 5.5 backing plate with it.

Hmm.... could just be a defective pad if you were using it at the proper speed and with the proper backing plate.

Were you using the D300, or some other polish/compound?

D300. Hadn't got to the D301 yet

What speed were you using it at?

I would give Meguiars Customer Care Center a call and see if they can do anything for you. They have always been helpful for me.

What the heck? I just ordered some of these pads. They better not do that to me!

I can't imagine what would cause that. Especially only on speed 4. That's strange.

You say you were blowing out the pad. By chance was the DA running while you were doing this?

report back when it slings out and hits you across the face! haha. joke set aside, that really sucks. alot of people have been waiting to finally get their hands on this kit and it would really suck for things to just turn out this way.

Yes it was running. I saw in the video and another post (from meguiars on meguiarsonline.com) that shows the DA running while they did this.

You are supposed to run it while cleaning. What speed were you running while cleaning? I turn mine all the way down to 1 while cleaning.

I left it at 4. I only have it on for about 3-5 seconds

Just my opinion here, so take what you will. I would never have a pad running for cleaning if I was using air to clean. Especially at a speed above 1. I have mine running using a bug sponge or a brush, but do not turn it on until I have the brush touching the pad. At a high speed you are just asking for trouble IMO. The centrifugal force is pulling that pad apart at those high speeds.

I haven't looked at the video that was mentioned, but from what I recall at the intro, I didn't think the pad was supposed to be spinning for the air blow-off, only for the brush method.

I haven't seen that video either, but I can't imagine someone telling anyone to run a pad without a load on it.

that sucks..When i clean mine with air I run it at speed i have it set on polishing to blow it out..and I have yet had a problem with the pad. and it shows no sign of damage..i think maybe you just got the short straw and got a defective pad that wasnt glued together properly
