This is a friends car that the dealership trashed with a combination hand wash and wax application during the vehicle prep. The dealership has also screwed up two clear-bra installs as well on this car.
When all the scratches, swirls and holograming was brought to the dealerships attention on the second clear bra install, they said that, "it is impossible not have all that on a black car". Yeah....

This detail ended up taking me 36 hours to from start to finish.

Process:
Foamed with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash (it was cloudy and cool out so I could really let it dwell and it almost completely stripped the dealership wax).
Washed using 2 bucket method and grit guards using Duragloss 901.
Wheels got Sonax Full Effect.
Clayed with Pinnacle Poly Clay.
I tried 8 pad and polish combo's before deciding what to use (paint was soft and very picky. All machine work done with G110v2. Pads cleaned with brush and compressed air.
Compounded with 5.5" & 4" LC Hydro Tech Cyan pads and Megs D300.
Polished with 5.5" & 4" LC Hydro Tech Tangerine pads and Megs D300.
Finished with 5.5" flat LC Black finishing pad and 4" LC Hydro Tech Crimson pad and Menz 85RD.
IPA wipedown.
Polished glass with DP Glass Restorer and LC flat 5.5" white pad.
Cleaned glass with Invisible Glass and DP Krystal Vision glass cleaners.
Treated engine with Aerospace 303.
Underside of engine hood cleaned with Optimum Power Clean at 3:1.
Treated underside of engine hood with Klasse AIO.
Cleaned interior with DP Total Interior Cleaner.
Protected interior with DP Total Interior Protectant.
Entire car (paint, trim, glass, door jambs) got Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0.
Tires treated with Optimum Tire Shine.

Onto the photos. All photos taken by me.

Wheels need a good cleaning.

Every crevice of this car had wax from the dealership, including some half dollar size puddles of it in the door jambs.

I need a lift and good chair like some of the guys I've seen on here using, sitting on concrete gets old fast.

Compressed air is a fantastic thing to have on hand!

i love m3's. As a painter i hate taping too so i feel your pain lol

Wow that was a great revival! You made the car look like new again! I can't believe that a dealership can leave the car trashed like that upon delivery.

WOW, that M3's paint was in horrible condition. Great job on correcting it! Your pictures were really good too. What camera/lens did you use?

These kind of write ups are why I continue to love AGO. Top-notch work, and top-notch photography.:urtheman:

Beautiful work on the detail and the pictures. Great looking car.

the dealership should see these pictures and be told that those holograms in picture 3 and 7 were done by them cause their "detailers" are not trained properly to use a buffer. and after that then they should be handed a bill to pay since you got out what they claimed was impossible to get out

They won't go for it. It seem like this kind of work passes most customer's muster so they just keep doing this kind of butchery. Very nice work by you!:dblthumb2:

Seems the more the car costs, the worse the paint condition..

Great work on the M3

you never know it really depends on the manager/owner/head detailer of the dealership. i started detailing at dealerships. i personally never let a car leave looking like that. sales staff got mad cause i took so long with the cars but the customers always loved it and could not find anything wrong. when i become manager of detail department there they gave me the time to train present and future employees the right way. they also knew if i was not there and a car was gonna leave like that and i found out someone was not gonna have a good day. so they would call me at home to come in a take care of the car. that was annoying but i would rather come in and fix it instead of letting customer leave like that. after everyone was trained the calls stopped. since the dealership said the swirls would not come out i am wondering if the detailers were even talked to there or if it was just sales person saying that. either way showing them that it did come out may make them rethink everything and actually get training for their detailers. if not they may just use the OP to prep the cars for them which would throw more money in his pocket. most of us complain when we see work a dealership detailer has done but how many of us has actually tried helping them by showing them what can and can not be removed when done properly. just gotta explain to them like any of us do to regular customers the impotance of a properly detailed vehicle and let them know not just anyone can do it.

I had a local dealer pay me after a customer of mine took the before and after pics to them on a brand new Mini.... The detailer was "talked to" then for some reason a few weeks later he quit... It does happen but not often enough...

Nice correction, and great beauty shots!

Did you use a rotary for the whole process?

Yeah I don't think it helps that I'm not very good at it. :)

Thank you!

Wow, very clean and outstanding pics!
Thank you!

Thank you! I used a Canon 5D (original, not the crappy 5DMKII) and a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L

Excellent work!
Thank you!

I love fixing bad detail jobs too! lol

Really nice work! :dblthumb2:
Thank you!

wow. that is excellent work. those scratches/swirls were unbelievable.
Thank you! I was surprised by how deep some of the scratches were once I removed all the buffer damage.

Nothing would please me more than if the owner sent over all the photos to the dealership!

Thank you! Very sad to see any car treated like that let alone a $71k one.
