Should I buy a G110v2?

See Mark I told you the GG isn't very durable

Go with another Griots. Lifetime guarantee; lots of "nuts."

My GG is very hard on pads, so I just picked up the Megs DA. I have not used it yet, so i'm intersted in hearing peoples thoughts as well on this subject. I plan to use it with the Megs MF DA system.

My Griots Garage DA is extremely hard on foam pads. Hydrotech pads dont stand a chance and orange light cutting pads, while more resiliant are still far less durable in the center sections rather than using the PCXP. Has anyone else experienced what i'm explaining ? Is there possibly something wrong wtih my GG unit ? If so I will call AG or GG and try to have it exchanged.

any advise ?

(btw, i have 3 years behind using DA polishers , so my technique is what I would consider fairly well. The only variable that I'm just about positive on is the GG polisher being the issue. I was using speed 6 at first but had to bump down to speed 5 to help take it eaiser on my pads. it does a great job of correcting the paint though ;) )

Doubt there's anything wrong with your GG. There's really no need to use above speed 5. Do you? Also, I didn't want to take a chance on the G110v2 and not like it. I really don't think the GG is too powerful.

With the PCXP, your pads don't don't get hot in the center?

Like I wrote above, yes I was using speed 6 until I realized got more used to the machine and realized that the pad spins with ease on speed 5. Since then I am using speed 5.

The GG machine is Definitely not too powerful, I totally agree with you there. My problem was with overheating. And/or heat being transferred to the center of the backing plate. I have used the machine everytime with great success, but I am just experiencing a loss in pad life compared to other machines. Does anybody else feel the same way ?

Didn't see you mentioned the speed already.

What kind of backing plate do you use? I heard the Meg's BP runs the coolest? :dunno:

This is true. I don't know why.

Well, remember that the G110v2 was on manufacturer back order for a number of months; it was kind of irrelevant to mention a machine no one could buy in any of the "what DA should I buy?" threads....

If you do end up buying the G110V2 and plan on using it a lot, I suggest looking into getting a beefier power cord for it. The cord on mine has failed 4 times now. The next time I open this thing up it will be getting an industrial grade cord.

The latest batch of machines built appear to have an upgraded power cord on them; I never owned one of the older 110v2s but I did see a couple of them and the cord on my polisher is definitely much beefier.

Just throwing that out there.
