CarPro really stepping it up. (Eraser)

Think what Avi is saying is that if you have a clean polished car then using eraser will need to apply lsp as it will be bare paint and no protection. It will not remove cquartz as straight IPA will not and thus no this.

Given that this contains other ingredients than just IPA, I wouldn't be so fast to guarantee this won't remove CQuartz. I honestly would expect the answer to my question to be 'no' as well, but I still think it's worth asking.

There also would not really be a reason to use eraser on cquartz at it really would do nothing constructive.

Again, I think only testing would be able to confirm that. If an organic contaminant were resting on the surface, meaning something IronX or TarX wouldn't remove effectively, I think it would be reasonable to consider Eraser to perform the task.

CarPro's own site even makes Eraser sound like it could be used as a Quick Detail spray in some environments (and probably a pretty effective one at that so long as it does not affect the durability of a coating like CQuartz negatively):

It is perfect for new car showrooms to eliminate fingerprints, dirt, dust and grime and will leave a perfect finish.

If this is highly recommended to use to completely remove polishing oils, I sure as heck wouldn't think to use it as a QD, unless one doesn't mind their LSP being removed.

I found it funny he said used as a QD too, sounds like this product is used to clean/strip anything left on the paint (old wax, polish oils, fillers) where as a QD preserve your LSP and give it that just detailed look...

Speaking of which, does that mean QD have fillers and such (I'm assuming that's where the gloss enhancer comes in?)

By the way mark, I never knew you lived in Pasadena, I always for some strange reason assumed you lived in Florida whenever I saw your picture/avatar.

Some QD's will "fill".

 Yep, I live in Pasadena. Where do you live?

I just changed my avatar. :righton:

Why do you say "probably" need to use LSP, Avi?

Let's say I've got a surface coated with CQuartz and I use Eraser over it.... will Eraser remove the CQuartz?

I meant , usually after polish job you need anyway to seal it or use wax , though some could only polish it only.

Eraser will not do any effect on cquartz, tarx also , neither ironx..
but you have good point there , if your car is coated with cquartz , and you use eraser after , it will only "pop up" the hydrophobic effect and the real shine from your surface . so it could be good idea.

eraser is not QD since its only a cleaner, no filling properties.

about the question yesterday , if IPA has anti static effect.. i checked this today , and the answer is no, nothing like anti static effect from ipa .

Agpatel , you seems to understand well my english and how i try to explain things, thank you.

The whole idea I was getting at was that if CQuartz or another coating was the LSP, and Eraser doesn't remove them, then Eraser could be a good choice to remove anything *else* from the surface while leaving the protective coating intact.

Whether or not to call it a QD is more or less just a semantic point of contention.

Wonder if you could use it to remove water spots from CQuartz? I remember a few users reporting a water spotting issue. I'm very intrigued by this product right now.

As I recall the formula of CQuartz was updated to address the water spotting issue; but I do think that's an interesting theory for those who have the older version....

I'm still waiting to see the larger sized bottles of TarX show up in the store before placing an order, but I plan to pick up some TarX, Eraser, and the IronX Paste as soon as they do.

For what it's worth,I did a correction/protection(G1) today on a 2009' VW and only used about 1/5 of my bottle of "CarPro ERASER" on the whole car.
At $15 for 16oz,the usage was about $3.
Time is money and for not having to rinse/dry the vehicle again(after polishing)the $3 for me was well spent!
BTW,the Eraser worked EXCELLENT and I enjoyed using it :)

IID am I reading your reply right that you do not have to rinse Eraser off befor applying the sealant??
Thanks,
Walt

Thanks Guys,,,,,,now to get the tree sap off of the truck...Hope to start polishing Monday.....:xyxthumbs:

Eraser works very well, will be using it again this weekend and next weekend. Which reminds me, I need to order that 1 liter bottle.

I'm disappointed that they haven't started stocking 5L jugs yet... I bought the 5L of IronX, and I'd do the same with Eraser.
