I pre-ordered the iPhone 4GS....

its pretty sad when "siri" along with features ripped off from android and blackberrys are the selling point, instead of the hardware itself

Functionality vs. specs

A lot of what Apple has done they have not done first, they have done done better than everyone else.
 
the difference is i dont ask a phone stupid questions.

apple doesnt do anything better, they just have blind followers that eat up anything they pitch. they fooled their customers once with the 3GS, i wasnt surprised they were able to pull it off again with the 4S...

the S stand for "suckers" or "stopgap"

like the vga front cam (in 2011) that is only good for video chat over wifi?

or do you mean the fact that you STILL cant delete music from the phone without a computer?

It sounds like you have found a device that is well suited to your use, congratulations.

The rest of your post is too much opinion and lacking any technical basis or factual evidence.

If you feel there are merits of the device that you prefer, I encourage you to start a thread that openly discusses them, and not just try and bash/belittle a product with no purpose.

I am not an Apple employee, nor a die-hard fan. I am however a purveyor of technology and I share my experiences and insights to help others. I have used just as many Android devices (including pre-release devices) than Apple devices so I feel I have a good grasp of both platforms.

as for factual evidence? the 3gs was "optimized code", a compass and a better camera. thats a stop gap.

me not being surprised is another fact
 
Stupid At&t have to wait until January till I can upgrade phone. Then I have to choose between getting iPhone 4s or wait till August for iPhone 5.

Discuss merits, strengths, weaknesses, flaws in detail, not just call it a "suckers" phone. You will find we are reasonable folks around here.

there arent any glaring flaws per se. its a worthy upgrade to the 3/3GS but i dont think im alone in saying someone dropped the ball...

when white didnt launch last year i knew something was up. when white finally launched this year i started telling people,"i bet the next model is an incremental update,not a 5 in other words".
when june came around and no announcements were made i was convinced...
i shoulda bet on it ha

ill admit october caught me off guard though, i figured early nov for black friday

You made a late edit to your post. I think it would be worth your time to review the hardware changes between the 3G and 3GS phone.

AnandTech - iPhone 3GS Performance: A Significant Performance Bump

Basically in real world tasks it is 100-128% faster than the 3G, and the hardware (internals) are completely different; very akin to the 4S vs the 4.

Though the 4 and the 4S share the same body, the internals are completely different. The 4S shares the same processor (A5) as the iPad2, which is a beast. The camera is new, the battery is different, really only the screen and body are unchanged.

I think we need to look beyond the body style when analyzing the two phones.
 
well, going by that, an xbox 360 is no longer an xbox 360 since the processor went from a 90nm process to 60 to 45...guess we're on xbox 4 now
ive had bunches of 3gs and 3g apart and they looked exactly the same inside. the screens even had the same connectors even though they werent compatible with each other. youd be surprised how much you can gain by software and memory optimization

From what I understand the die change from 90nm to 60 to 45nm was more about controlling the heat envelope issues that plagued the 360 aka RROD that caused upwards of a 54.2% failure rate.

Did the Die change increase the performance of the Xbox? (not a console gamer, honest question).
 
I decided not to get it or say yet . idk . did the 5.0 software upgrade though . I'm wondering this though . u decided to get the new i , but in less than a year the i5 comes out can u still upgrade to that or do u have to be 1 year into u contract ? it also may be if u are already an i owner and when a new i comes out u can always upgrade at discount price ?
about Siri , which I dont know much about. basically a voice recognition app . for those who do not have the new i4, I use an app called "vlingo" which is a voice recognition app to talk to text, email, call , fb updates , maps, Internet searches .
