Hi,

I'm thinking about getting the DA MF Pads and using them with Menzerna's PO85RD 3.02/PO106FA

any one has any experience using these pads with other products rather then Meg's intended compound/wax that comes in that category?

there is tons of info out there with using other products than the d300-301 with Meg's damf . its quite common . do some searching . as far as using a mf pad with po85rd , I have not seen anything related to that . u want to use the softest foam pad u have to jewel . blue-red-gold .

I feel like 85RD on a MF pad defeats the purpose if the product.

Somebody will come up with a product that finishes down with a MF as good as Menzerna 85rd on a foam finishing pad. Optimum's new finishing polish comes close in my opinion. It will happen. MF pads are here to stay but the challenge remains the finishing step.

No doubt in my mind that you are correct. And I cannot wait for it to happen. MF is such a pleasure to work with.

I wonder if the D300/301 would work on a lc ccs pad?!

It does. But it is not even close to as effective. The D300 doesn't cut as much, and the D301 does not clean up the haze left by D300 as well as it does on a MF finishing pad.

So, Does any one of you have PO85RD 3.02 & Meg's DA MF pads and willing to have a go at it and maybe surprise us all??

Mike? Autogeek ? are you willing to experiment and give us all the news?

I also hear Optimum are doing MF pads now... possibly same pads & different branding??

i just used mez 87mc with megs 5.5 micro pads at bobby g's suggestion and got a finish close to glass. will continue to use it to remove slight micro marring and not have to worry about cutting off too much clear coat.

I love the MF pads!

That being said, MF material is more aggressive then the foam on a finishing pad, so if the best possible finishing is your goal, it's going to come from foam not MF.

Just my $.02

Wow, sound good! i will keep this combo in mind! Which car did you use it on?

Menzerna APO60, sealing wax, should work very good with the finishing pad since it contains a small amount of abrasives.

"MF material is more aggressive then the foam on a finishing pad"...

...So FAR...

:iagree:

MF pads tend to be pretty agressive. You could always use the MF pads like they were intended then follow up with a foam pad and P085RD. And P085RD is the last final polish anyone, so unless your working on really soft paint you'll want a compound, medium polish, then P085RD (finish polish) or at least medium polish then finish polish if you really want to use it.

I haven't used any MF pads yet but I just wanted to clarify to you that Menzerna PO 85RD 3.02 is not a finishing polish. It's not the same as PO 85RD. It seems that some of the responses that you got refer to 85RD instead of 85RD 3.02. Two completely different things. Have a look here ....
