New Word of the Day

For 09.12.2012's "new word(s) of the day":

Prototypal/Archetypal

Definition:
1.) See post below...

classic:

1.top quality: generally considered to be of the highest quality or lasting value.
2. Having class; exemplar(<<<my addition)

(As for: Prototypal/Archetypal/Classic); and...IMO…This pretty well sums it up!!!

Too funny hand:laughing:

Just sitting here waiting on my mulch too arrive...got the call that it's a day early :props:.

The Homeowners Assoc. has been busy spreading panic by reposting emails of vehicle break-ins (unlocked cars). Seems that everyone wants their trees trimmed back for visibility. If you think about it, common sense says secure your vehicle. I've got 5 outdoor infrared cameras around the house and am contemplating a 6th.

Also have to ship two large packages to Jamaica before Friday...$$$

For 09.13.2012's "new word of the day" (a:Combo):

Aggrade/Sediment

Aggrade's Definition:
1.To fill, raise, or build-up the level of an object by deposition of sediment.

Sediment's Definition:
1. the matter that settles to the bottom of a liquid
2. Material (ex. mineral or organic matter) deposited
upon a surface by water, air, or ice.

-Unless a vehicle’s top coat paint-film (CC, for this example) is absolutely, truely free of
any and all: "peaks and valleys"—smooth as: glass/baby’s butt :D, as it were;
I will assume that at least some degree of aggradation from
environmental contaminates---sediment, if you will…must occur/be-occuring.

-Now...Ridding said CC of this aggradational/sedimentous layer(s)
is where due diligence, IMO, must be taken!!

-Sometimes it may take more than:
"The Two-Bucket Method"
to 'flush these birds' out into the open/down the toilet.

-On the other hand...
How much of a role that the "filling ability" of:
Waxes/Sealants/Coatings---LSP's...may, or may not, have...
might just be a factor/player in the: "peaks and valleys" scenario.

holy grail:

an object or goal that is sought after for its great significance.

For the newly arrived, it may be the DA buffer.
To some, it's the purchase of a high caliber, high content carnauba wax.
With progression, it may be viewed as the rotary buffer.

Maybe it's the first exotic detail.
Or, maybe tackling wet sanding.

Still to some it's the challenge: de-pitting windshields.

And for others, it may be the payday associated with the full package, including a "permanent" coating.
..."let's see,
Full interior: $$$
Full 3- step with decontamination: $$$
And a permanent coating with warranty: $$$
...Your bill comes to $$$$"

When it comes to detailing, whats your holy grail?

A "new word of the day" for 09.14.2012:

Antithesis

Definition:
1. the exact opposite
2. contrast or opposition

holy grail:

an object or goal that is sought after for its great significance.

When it comes to detailing, whats your holy grail?

-It seems that the quest for 'The Holy Graille'---"Beauty"/Detailing Products, as I'll present for this case:
Is often deemed to be appearing as an antithesis between women and men.

-Nay, I must say...
The "type of surfaces" to be beautified may indeed be different, but many
car-care/beauty-products contain similar ingredients/chemicals.

But I digress.

Now on to another "beauty-related" note:

"The Un-Holy Graille": An Antithesis

-Years ago, after conducting numerous, what I’ll refer to as “interviews” (<<<of which I no longer am affiliated),
with the 'Ladies'...there was hardly ever a consensus of the "best beauty-products"...
usually boiled down to: Individual preferences.

-However, there were three products that were always listed as the top favorites:

1. The Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
Quote:"It exfoliates so well and is still gentle enough for daily use"! Unquote

2. Mica (in bulk)…
Quote:"I add to all of my lotions, so EVERYTHING can be shimmery"! Unquote.

3. Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion
Quote:"It is pole safe! I can put some on my legs literally seconds before pole dancing
and it is not greasy!!--- it gives perfect grip"!
Unquote.

IMO…
The above..." 'Un-Holy Graille"...quest probably marches onward!

:D

Speaking of beauty.
I had a post based on this for the holiday $50 give away, somehow I deleted it.

Kaolin clay: SOURCE > Wikipedia

Kaolinite is a clay mineral, part of the group of industrial minerals, with the chemical composition Al2Si2O5(OH)4. It is a layered silicate mineral, with one tetrahedral sheet linked through oxygen atoms to one octahedral sheet of alumina octahedra.[4] Rocks that are rich in kaolinite are known as kaolin or china clay.[

Kaolinite has a low shrink-swell capacity and a low cation exchange capacity (1-15 meq/100g). It is a soft, earthy, usually white mineral (dioctahedral phyllosilicate clay), produced by the chemical weathering of aluminium silicate minerals like feldspar

Kaolin is or was also used:
as an indicator in radiological dating since Kaolinite can contain very small traces of uranium and thorium.
to soothe an upset stomach, similar to the way parrots (and later, humans) in South America originally used it.[15] More recently, industrially-produced kaolinite preparations were formerly common for treatment of diarrhea; the most common of these was Kaopectate, which abandoned the use of kaolin in favor of attapulgite and then (in the United States) bismuth subsalicylate.
for facial masks or soap

Diamondite Spray Clay™ is formulated to remove embedded contaminants from glass to create a clean, smooth appearance.

AGO product description said:
Diamondite Spray Clay™ uses a Kaolin clay formula to lift contaminants out of the deep pits in the glass and suspend them until you wipe them away. Just like paint clay, it pulls out debris that washing misses. Even your average glass cleaner doesn’t clean deep down. Nothing cleans glass like Spray Clay™.

...Diamondite Spray Clay™ is formulated to remove embedded contaminants from glass to create a clean, smooth appearance. It can’t actually remove etched spots, but it will thoroughly clean them so they appear virtually invisible. Water spots created by mineral deposits will disappear, along with oily films and dirt. Your windshield will appear crystal clear to the naked eye.

Filler, or cleaner. I'm stumped.:dunno:

I can see the cleaning aspect for pristine glass, but what about pitted and wiper abraded windshields.

I do have a "new word of the day" article I'm working on that addresses this:
-Koalin Clay; D.E.---as fillers, polishing/gloss-agents, etc. that I was
actually planning on presenting pretty soon for perusal...

-I'll see if I can locate, finish, and publish it, postehaste!
(It just may be of assistance. Hope so.)

Thanks, FUN!
Not really an issue, kaolin always catches my attention when it is prominent in the marketing.
I never knew about the Spray Clay until the give away.

How do you know what to look for when you have no idea what you're viewing to begin with?

Why would one choose a product based on its abilities and results, then not follow its simple directions?

Why overcomplicate very simple steps, by adding one's own extra measure...that eventually leads to product failure?

Hardheaded: from Merriam-Webster

1. Stubborn, willful.
2. Concerned with, or involving practical considerations: Sober, realistic<some hardheaded advice>

Examples of hardheadedness:

* He was hardheaded about getting his way.

* He needed to take a more hardheaded approach to these problems.

* They gave him some hardheaded advice.

A "new word of the day" for 09.16.2012:

^^^^:iagree:^^^^

-IMHO...The pertinaciousness of some detailers from abiding to manufacturers'
recommendations, may often be the reason for their inability of obtaining:

"Product-efficaciousness"

I personally don't have the time or patience to experiment on other peoples property...with the exception of the test bed Buick customer.
Some of these hands feed their families and pay mortgages from their detailing enterprises.

1. Adhering resolutely to an opinion, purpose, or design

Pertinaciously following ones business plan is essential if properly formulated. Failure to do so, either in planning, or execution, may lead to loss of efficacy of said business.

A "new word of the day" for 09.17.2012:

Entrepot

Definition:
1. A warehouse; a place for depositing goods, etc.
2. A port where merchandise can be imported and re-exported with paying import duties
3. A transshipment center
4. A place (seaport or airport) where people and merchandise can enter or leave a country
5. A Repository
6. A granary: a storehouse for threshed grain or animal feed
7. Powder magazine: where weapons and ammunition are stored
8. Railhead: a railroad depot
9. Treasure-house

-AGO’s entrepot is wherein, according to many folks,
a veritable treasure-trove is to be found!!

-("Shipping costs be anathematized"!!...Is often the "Battle-Cry")

I spent almost two hours viewing threads, composing, then deleting submissions.

Not feeling it today as every spring, white line fever calls...and every autumn's chill reminds me of the ebb of produce season (high dollar/high mile loads).

Not to mention time spent viewing CB related YT videos.

Melanchology:

  1. feeling or causing sadness: feeling or making somebody feel a thoughtful or gentle sadness
  2. pensive sadness: a thoughtful or gentle sadness

For 09.18.2012's "new word of the day":

Euphoria

Definition:
1. Opposite of dysphoria (melancholy)
2. Extreme happiness; bliss
3. Ecstasy
4. Frenzy; madness

The Detailer became frenzied at the mere thought of having the
opportunity to detail his newly-acquired-Customer’s Lamborghini.

But his emotional state-of-mind hardly compared to this Customer’s:
euphoric-behavior... once he saw the pulchritudinous-paintwork
of his prized possession…(A Customer for Life!!).

^^^^Melancholic...^^^^

I, too: "have been there".

Ofttimes now, since I’ve retired, I find myself being tristful
Of those days earning a living, making money by the fistful.
But then: An even deeper-melancholy:"Wish I’d done more with my Life"!
As I remember those lost-times with the Family…(Especially the Wife!).
But, when I thank The Lord for all He’s given: No longer wistful.

:)

^^^^Melancholic...^^^^

Wow, I don't know how that happened.:dunno:

Your P-alliteration is spot on as usual. I always look forward to your posts.

There is much commonality in both experience and reality, as expressed in your limerick.

That's good medicine Doc...uhh, FUN!

For 09.19.2012's "new word of the day":

Dosage

Definition:
1. The administration of a drug or agent in prescribed amounts
and at prescribed intervals
2. The optimum therapeutic dose and optimum interval between doses
3. The quantity of an active agent taken in or absorbed at any one time
4. Something that treats, prevents, or alleviates the symptoms of disease
5. Booster
6. Hit: Dose of a narcotic drug

-The Enthusiast-Detailers amongst us have been known to apply dosages of certain
LSP’s upon their vehicles…Often weekly, or more…With the hopes and
intentions of supplying preventative measures for their vehicles’ paint systems
against whatever environmental or man-made contaminates that might befall.

For some folks, though…The above practice may be deemed as therapeutic-dosages
in order to: "Sooth the Savage Beast"...called AR.

-Polycharger (marketed as a Wax-Booster) must be administered not only in the
proper dosage to an LSP/Quick-Detailer, but also by the correct designation of
said LSP’s/QD’s being either water/petroleum-based products.

Thankfully, for those interested in doing so, there is a
"Chart" available for that determination!

10-07: Out of service, leaving air

Post 951: Possible investors.

I have been working on a project for several months now and everthing finally fell into place this morning. Financing is set, and I'm eager to get things started.
I have rarely had any plan come together so quickly, and I'm anxious to get the ball rolling. Detailing is what I do, but it's not who I am.
I'll be flying out early next week for 6 weeks of training.
I have three details that I am committed to this weekend, then its sink, or swim.
I'm at a loss for words right now due to the euphoria. It's been great fun and I've logged many an hour on these forums and will miss the camaraderie exemplified by forum members.
