The most over-rated products?

I really like 205. I got decent correction on my car using it as a light polish before apply opti coat.

105 however, I HATE! It works well but its to hard to remove. I know members here have posted strategies for making removal easier, but imo, it shouldnt be necessary.

With ultimate compound, if I apply too much, its easy to remove, if I apply too little, its easy to remove. Same cannot be said about 105.

U should give Menzerna Top Inspection a try - removes all the gritty residue easily and makes the paint LSP ready. IME, much better then IPA

Im a big advocate of Sonax. In my case Audis are victims of a good amount of brake dust and it does the trick.

As for the sprayer, I transfer it into a Kwazzar sprayer to get a finer mist.

If your driving a German marque, you should try Autoglym. All the rest are pretenders and simple don't work-and I've tried most of the "good" wheel cleaners. Wish AG would carry it. Feel free to pm for a contact phone number. Once you give it a whirl, you won't use anything else.

I wonder why it is that not many pro detailers are ranting in this thread...

IMO it's probably because they don't tend to try out as many new products as most enthusiasts on here.

And perhaps because they rely on tried-and-true formulations (and methods) that are available in bulk quantities?

I can't imagine a production shop gambling on clients' cars with stuff that hasn't been vetted through a large-scale beta trial, something that usually only happens with bigger brands (Meguiars, for example)

I love the Guzzler WW. I can quick-squeege a whole car without wringing once, then I go over it with a plush or super plush MF to dry it completely. Even more useful on fabric soft-tops. It draws out gallons of water from a top, about three square feet at a time then wringing well.

My vote goes towards Aquawax. It reminds me of a quick detailer from 5 years ago. It adds no slickness at all, which is something most of us like to feel after using a product like that.

I don't know why everybody thinks its amazing. Primo Hydro, CG V7, Meg's Ultimate Spray Wax, Optimum Spray Wax, and Zymol Field Glaze with Carnuba are ones I own that are all better (with protection). AW actually was a little grabby for me. It may be cheap, but IMHO that's all it has going for it.

Another product I think may be overrated is Opticoat, but that's a whole other story.

Wow, Aquawax is an amazing product for the price. It looks as good or better than Zaino Z8 for about half the price. OCW looks better than AW,but it's more expensive also. You just can't hardly beat Duragloss products in regards to bang for the buck. I like it better than Megs UQW too,but you can buy UQW just about everywhere and it's a great product.

I think lava was over rated, it was a good wax, but was not on par with dodo juice and being the same price.. I think its a 40-50 dollar wax.

Lava, orange crush created more glow than lava
See sig

dodo juice supernatural is definitely over rated, I didn't see much for looks, beading was normal, nothing spectacular, sheeting was good, nothing incredible, for the $130 price tag yeah right, worth 50-70 imo very disappointed with that one, and it won't be added to my dodo collection any time soon lol, if ever, I also hear reports of it "ghosting" nothing drives me crazier than waxes that do this

CG heavy duty degreaser.

SON1C. Can you tell me what ghosting is ?

which degreaser is their heavy duty? is it the grime reaper? ( they ahve so many damn products / names lol )

ghosting (iirc the right term for this ) is when you apply a wax ( supernatural ) etc etc follow directions for example let haze and buff off, you examine the car great success all of the excess wax has been removed and you have a freshly waxed vehicle....... and then later blotches appear that clearly look like hazed wax you completely missed buffing off

it can happen hours later, days later, even weeks later, and depending on the wax can be terribly hard to remove, I once applied petes too heavy and it ghosted for weeks, and the reappeared wax was like concrete, I had to clay it off..

so basically ghosting is after completely buffing off the freshly applied wax, it later (hours, days, even weeks) reappears like it was never buffed in places, this can also be triggered my moisture interaction as well .. so its kind of like a ghost, the wax is reappearing, and usually no one ever likes to see ghosts! lol

I'm not sure on the whole science behind it, but if a wax is ghosting I don't want it, imagine you completed a customers car and a day later wax reappears, an embarrassing situation where it looks as if you completely missed usually decent sized blatant spots
