6 more to go, atleast, keep it coming guys.

I was over my buddy's yesterday detailing his silver Mazdaspeed 3 and was thinking about our little get together, it was such a nice day, I hope our day is exactly like yesterday's weather, that would be awesome!

I know this is taking sometime to set up and that's fine, actually if this were to happen when summer is over would be fine too, the summer has been pretty hot so far, this week looks like we might hit 100, WOW!

Yea I think we should actually plan to do it even after summer or late August if the weather starts looking bearable. Yesterday was indeed a great day for detailing with no humidity and mid 70s or so. That would surely be perfect with 20 guys packed (well not so packed as the shop area we're potentially using is 13k sf) in a shop :).

Ivan, thanks for offering up your shop to us, I'm sure our group will be respectful of everything, I don't get the impression this is an immature group at all.

I checked out your website, very nice and you've got some impressive clients there, hope to see a couple of the high end rides show up for the meet and greet for sure. I saw an Aztec gold E46 that caught my eye for sure, anyone with a Laguna Seca blue E46 you could invite out?!

I couldn't agree more about the end of summer too, early fall is best IMO! BTW, congrats on being in the top 10 in the country, really looking forward to coming to the Chicagoland Mecca for sure!

As long as it doesn't get too late into August, I should be able to make it out.

Yes, Ivan. Thank you very much!
I can hardly wait!

I will post as soon as I talk to the guys at the shop (sometime this week) and we can start planning for a date, etc.

I might be interested depending on the date. I don't think anyone's going to learn much from me though...

I'm also down for this meet as well... I also have a shop we can use, depending on the amount of people. The inside holds 3 cars comfortably, but there are no chairs/couches or anything to sit on. The parking lot can comfortably park 7-8 cars.

My friend owns a shop as well that may be of better use. I'm located in Lake County IL about 35-45 miles north of chicago. Just an idea, although I am very interested in going elsewhere as well!

This get together for me anywyas is to a face with a name and maybe learn a little something along the way, not everyone has something to offer the group, that's ok, this is more of a hobby for me anyways, although I wish I could do it everyday for a living, being around cars all day is great, I know its work at the end of the day but if your passionate about cars it takes the "work" out of the work.

Ivan, do you have some idea's as to what we can do while we're there as far as working on a car for instance? I know you've got a high end business there but maybe a "regular" car for us to give it a go on? Maybe one of our noobs to the site has a car for us to work on? The one thing I'd like to try is using a buffer, I've got a Griot's 3 and 6" RO and at some point would like to add a buffer to my bag of "weapon of mass reflection", so this is something I'd personally like to learn more about. I thought that if we had a car to work on, combined with the amount of people showing up that we could all have a turn at a section of the car, this way we're not getting too tired/sweaty but learning in the process and doing a car for someone. These are just my idea's for the group, everyone else, please chime in, we want this to be a learning experience as well as nice little car show to boot.

BTW, the later in the summer/early fall the better, cooler temps would make for a much better time for everyone! Also, if your going, please add yourself to the master list so Ivan has an idea as to who is actually coming out to the event, thank you!

Hey Ivan, I think we're getting pretty close so maybe since your providing the location for us, you could pick the date for the meet? IMO it should be on a Sunday, most of us don't work on Sunday, just sayin'. Also, just throwing this out to the group, is there anyone, besides Ivan, that knows how to use a buffer really good? The reason I ask is because I'd really to learn how to use one, at some point I'm going to want one and wanna know what I'm getting into. The difference in performance between the buffer and orbital are night and day surely, I mean I've gotten great results with my RO but there's been some cars I've done for friends and family that needed a buffer instead, so I was able to just do my best and they came out pretty well all things considered.

Is there anyone on the fence about rinseless washes or any other products out there? I'm just trying to come up with things that can be brought to the meet so we can show them to others in the group who've wanted to know about a certain product like rinseless wash, spray on and walk away sealants, etc. Any idea's you guys would like to add please, by all means, throw them out there, thanks!

Hold on now, Ivan HASN'T volunteered his shop yet. Once we know for certain that we have a location THEN we can solidify a date. Try and take smaller bites.

Oh I must've missed something, my bad. Just to be on the safe side, the others with possible locations, keep the invite open.

Yea I am just going to have to talk with the owners but I'm sure they'll be fine with it. I basically lease 200-300 sf in a 13,000sf shop, so as you can imagine I'll have to discuss it with the shop guys and figure out what can be done. Besides that, I'm more than happy to offer up the space and help plan something out.

I too was thinking along the lines of finding a donor car on which everyone can try out different techniques and products. I'm wiling to offer up some tools and supplies to be used and tested during the meet as well as any advice I may be able to give, otherwise I'm with you on the rest... probably ordering a few pizzas and drinks and spending a few hours just talking and learning detailing. The shop can fit a few cars inside and there's more than enough parking outside as we're in a little plaza/strip mall type area, but I'd like to keep it to about 20 people just as a first time thing and keep it from getting too large. Especially if there's only one car to work with.

In any case, I'll speak with these guys sometime this week as I've been busy with some medical issues in the family and tomorrow is "judgement day" so life has been fairly hectic lately. I'll update this asap and we'll go from there. The one thing I do know for sure, if we end up doing it at my shop location, it will have to be a Sunday as other days I'm either booked/busy or the shop is, since they work Mon-Sat. Happy holidays guys in case I'm not on here before Wed!

First things first Ivan, hope everything works out with the medical issues! Obviously no hurry to come back on here until your ready to do so.

Now as far as supplying the products, well, I think we could do that, especially if we each do a section of the car, might not be the same product on each panel but you'd be able to see the difference each product has over another product. Not only that but the owner of the car we'd be doing could maybe report about durability of each panel, might take a little work to record what's used on each panel/section but would give us some "real world" input though.

So one thing we know is this, Sunday is the day and inclosing, no hurry on the actual day Ivan, just come back when you can, thanks and we'll say a prayer for whatever the situation is!
